The change from the normally overcast, and grim skies of Tanglewood to the sudden brightness of the island felt very sudden, very harsh. But it wasn't like Samantha hadn't known it from the multiple trips back and forth, just to visit her girlfriend. The bright white sands, the colorful reefs, the abundance of fish, the sounds of the rainforest- it was very alive compared to the deep and dark places of the Tanglewood.
Yet, had Sam known that wherever she went there would be that dark cloud, she wouldn't have left at all. She knew that someone was after Goldie now. It was burning in her lungs, like acid on her tongue, the asthma in this body limiting her. She had been resting on the white sands, picking sand out from between her pawpads when her eyes caught sight of her leg again. Her eyes blinked for a moment, and she growled beneath her breath. Sam knew she couldn't protect anybody like this. She knew that, like that burning in her lungs telling her she couldn't run right now, couldn't breath. It was like laughing at her.
Not to mention the draw of going cold turkey. She left her cigarettes behind, her scent slowing becoming masked by the jungle, the slight stink of nicotine no longer clinging to her pelt. She shook as she stood, starting to head down the beach, pacing, breathing heavy. She couldn't bear it. The tingling, the pain all over her body. She cried out as she toppled over, suddenly, racing thoughts bringing it all down to one point, exploding as she screeched. Sam's shoulders bent, her body rippling with muscle, and suddenly, it was calm.
One clear cry of a seagull overhead made her eye peak open. Green optics flicked about the beach, and the doberman's ears lay flat against her head, the nub of a tail barely wiggling. She rolled over, then cursed as her limbs smacked the ground. What limbs. Her head picked up, turning towards the set of grand wings on her back, massive, dragging the sand around. Wings! She cursed, jumping onto her paws. The wings flapped around uselessly, twitching and moving about wildly, creating minor wind gusts with each movement. Sam reached up with one paw- hey, I'm taller now, imagine that- and brushed at her ears, then her antlers. She exhaled. At least she had that.
// tl;dr
she's got a male doberman body now, winged similar to a red tailed hawk. she still has her antlers.
