Most of the herbs that were in his books were there, anyway. The flowers didn’t have much of a purpose, but he had been keeping them for his sister who seemed unlikely to return. Still, sometimes he looked around the territory for things he had never seen, and sometimes he found them.
Today, the young sawbones found himself in a part of the territory he had never been in. There was an occasional house, but for the most part it seemed fairly empty. Maybe there’d be a new plant somewhere? Selby continued on, hopeful that he might make a discovery.
Eventually, Selby came to another home. This, in and of itself, was not strange. However, just as he came around the bend, he could see a garden, not unlike his own. Unlike his own, though, he could see some plants he had never seen before. Gaping, he stood there silently, not sure what to do. Obviously he couldn’t just go into the garden and dig up the plants. That would be rude, plus he didn’t even know how to properly take care of them.
So, Selby instead went up to the door and gave two quick, firm knocks and waited.
