Looking at Roy and seeing... nothing. No recognition, no love, no respect or familial warmth... it was like a dagger in the heart for Wormwood, who could feel his legs faintly trembling beneath him. The angel stared for a long moment before he felt his wings droop down low, his gaze filling with pain as he heard the warning growl, and saw the rising flames. Roy had worked so hard to get those flames to go down before, and Wormwood had been so proud of him... it was just yet another wound in Wormwood's already wounded emotional state. Taking in a shaky breath, the guardsman closed his eyes for a moment before he rumbled, able to hear the soft footsteps of several Pittians approaching, probably coming to see what the commotion was, "Roy... I know that you're in there, deep down inside. This place has just done something to you... I promise, I'll be back. Tanglewood will be back... please stay safe." He was doubtful that any of his words were actually getting through to the young tiger, but he had to at least try. After all, he had been missing his son for so long, and now that he was finally with him again? Roy didn't even seem to remember him in the slightest, or care about him. Worm was sure that it was just something the Pittians had done to Roy, but... it still stung like a son of a bitch, and made Worm waver for a moment before he turned away from the threatening tiger.
No matter how much he wanted to stay and fight to somehow snap Roy out of it, he knew that it was no use. If he stayed right now, it would just end up with him getting captured and Roy possibly getting blamed and hurt, and Wormwood absolutely couldn't have that happening. It just meant that he would have to come back with everyone else in the raid, and then they could save the boy and make him realize where he was supposed to be. The Pittian footsteps were approaching even more rapidly as Wormwood stepped up on a nearby rock, looking back at Roy again for a long moment before he launched himself up into the air, flapping his wings to take off into the sky and back towards the swamp that Tanglewood resided in. He could hear the faint yelling of Pitt soldiers beneath him, but he ignored it, continuing to swoop and fly onwards. He could feel tears faintly stinging and crowding his eyes, but he shook them off, letting out a shaky breath as he flew through the air, forcing himself not to look back. There was nothing he could do for Roy yet, except leave.
