Wormwood wasn't sure exactly what he had expected from Roy when he showed up here – tears, maybe? Definitely gratefulness, and relief that his father was here to take him back home – but it certainly wasn't this. The boy turned his gaze towards Worm, his eyes devoid of their usual light and soft curiosity, and replaced instead with just... darkness. His gaze made Wormwood recoil a bit, caught off guard by how unRoy it truly was, but what really made him freeze was the snarl that soon curled onto Roy's muzzle, the tiger's eyes narrowing in fury as he looked at his adoptive father. Worm's ears pinned down to his head in worry as soon as he saw the strange defensive rage that existed in Roy's eyes, and he opened his mouth to say something, but suddenly he had been raked right across the face. There was a burst of pain from claws ripping into the tender skin of his cheek, accompanied by the harsh burn of the flames curled around Roy's limb. The lion let out a loud roar of pain as he pulled his face back, his paws moving out to push Roy away from him, not using any claws but still finding himself pushing his son away so he wasn't injured anymore. He could feel many pairs of eyes focusing on him as a result of his roaring, and he lowered his voice, hissing out urgently as he stepped back, ready to bolt before someone other than a slave showed up, "Roy, what...? Why are you doing this? Roy, it's me, Wormwood! Listen, you need to come with me... Roy, please..." He sounded desperate, but that was because... well, he was. He was desperate for his son to be safe and back at home with him, without the guardsman constantly panicking because one of his loved ones was gone.
