[glow=#000,1,400]BUT NOW I UNDERSTAND YOU, AND I WILL NOT BE PART OF YOUR DESIGNS — 。+゚.[/glow]
Wormwood had always had a significant soft spot for children. After all, he had been mistreated and ignored for most of his childhood, and he didn't want any children to suffer like he had for most of his life. One thing this included was that, pretty damn simply, he didn't want any kids to be eaten. He emerged slowly from the trees of the swamp around them, and he immediately tended up when he saw Vathmos nosing at the kit's small and limp body. His mouth worked before his brain did, motivated by fear and anger as he snarled at the hyena, moving forward with his teeth bared threateningly as he spoke, [glow=#793B29,1,400]"Don't even think about it, Vathmos. She needs help."[/glow] He moved over to the small girl and looked her over carefully before gently prodding at her with his wing. When she didn't immediately respond, he tried to carefully take her by the scruff, lifting her up and moving to gently put her on a nearby log. Once she was off the hard dirty ground, he turned and roared, [glow=#793B29,1,400]"We need some help! Selby? Shit, I don't know if Selby is still sick..."[/glow]
He sighed and turned back to the kitten and gently nuzzled at her, mumbling softly, [glow=#793B29,1,400]"Hey... hey, can you wake up for me? Do you need food, water? You seem like it..."[/glow] He had some food and rainwater stashed in his house, but he wasn't sure he wanted to leave Rhea alone with Vathmos right now. If he could wake the kit up, maybe she could ride on her back all the way to his house. She was so incredibly small compared to him that it would be very easy to just carry her along. And if she couldn't cling to him, he could always carefully carry her in his mouth. His teeth made him anxious in that scenario, but he was sure that she would be safer in his jaws than within reach of the hyena's. He wanted to believe that Vathmos wouldn't hurt someone so young and vulnerable, but she has been looking at the child like a meal, rather than a person.
