Fortunate for Bakugou, Keona had tasted the scent of a nearby crewmate before his voice met her ears. She was still startled, ripped away from her antsy thoughts and half-baked plans to escape the branches of the tree. The tiny kitten did not want to seem frightened though, or incapable. Yet as her father's voice reached her, Keona lingered on the brink of accepting defeat.
She did not know how to get down. Up was simple. Up was relatively easy. She just had to dig her claws in and pull herself higher. Down had to be the opposite but it made her head spin, her sense of balance turning topsy-turvy. No one would think lesser of her, she argues, for needing help getting down. Well, she did not include Caesar of course, but he did not care about her anyway. His opinion, she decided, was not relevant to her sense of self-worth. Her father on the other hand...
She bit her lip, ears flicking back. "No," she finally called in answer, rolling her eyes sharply at Caesar's remark. Whatever, you have functional eyes, lemon. "I don't know how, da." What if she lost her claw-holds on the way down if she did try?
