climbing [★] go the distance - Keona. - 09-15-2018

✯ — female. minnow of the typhoon. blind. rusty spotted cat.  ref. bio.
A spotted tail hung, curled upwards, off the branch of a tree.  The tiny figure connected, her ears perked attentively, sea-green hues flickering, clearly did not belong somewhere up so high.  Short, razor sharp claws hooked cautiously in the bark, maintaining balance.  The same claws had made the trip up.  A trip attempted a few times before, but never with great success.

Instinctively speaking, trees were safe places.  Above the ground.  If her eyes had worked, Keona would have a vantage point other small felines would consider advantageous.  Necessary.  A high view point meant dangers or prey spotted more easily.  For the young fae however, it simply meant her paws had left the familiarity of the ground.  There was something relaxing, knowing she had her claws hooked into something stable, that withheld the often panic that gripped her in high places.

The sound was different in the trees.  The birds felt closer.  Still.  Keona kept her claws firmly embedded.  She could get used to this perhaps but for now... She just did not know how to get herself down.  Did she go the same way she came?  Unease settled into her stomach.  How would that work?  Would she have to face down, or climb backwards?  Did she jump?  Her heart skipped a beat.  Definitely not.

Re: climbing [★] go the distance - Grey - 09-16-2018

Does she know how high she is? The sliver of a tail does not escape Bakugou's notice who is currently on patrol, walking about for any discrepancies that slither within the island's grounds. He remembers this young girl is blind, watching and realising the nature of their universe through sightless eyes, unable to ever fully appreciate the ocean. At this point, the reaver has stopped walking to raise and his head and squint to look at Keona. The sun, risen to its highest point, appears in between the cracks of leaves that provide shelter. It stings, makes his eyes water just a little to try and see the dappled silhouette of the kitten, climbing atop a tree. It's dangerous but Bakugou can't bring himself to speak, he doesn't want to say a word as he observes her carefully. She's too high up now for him to shout or say anything. If she falls, how can he catch her? He has no arms, no hands to try and hold her. All his has are his fire elementals which would surely just burn the poor girl, disfigure her skin with an ugly, charred, glossy exterior. His abilities lied in destruction and the only 'good thing' his powers gave was to cauterise wounds, but it was only ever useful if there was a healer around because they knew what they were doing.

Keona's been up there for a while now, he notes. The reaver has surprised himself with how long he has stayed around to make sure the girl is okay. It is not to say he cares about the child in particular but the ragdoll was simply lost in thought, mind delving into a realm of imagination and memories that he notices the feline must be stuck or something. "You, uh, okay up there?" Bakugou calls out, sounding rather gruff despite trying not to scare the feline. She most likely noticed his scent anyway before he spoke, but the male still wants to avoid being the sole reason a kitten jumps out of a tree and become jam. His mind remains trapped in questioning his own motives. There is no real gain for Bakugou standing around, perhaps it will cause him more inconveniences. And yet the tabby continues to convince himself of various excuses: it is his job, he got distracted and now has to help her, he has nothing better to do.

Re: climbing [★] go the distance - Kian. - 09-16-2018

KIAN Ó FAOLÁIN
So bring on all the monsters, That lie sleeping in the blue
I'll fight 'em all bare handed, Screaming I ain't scared of you
Bakugou's voice grabs Kian's attention.  His ears perk up, sea-green eyes still locked on the squirrel he had been stalking.  His paw froze in mid air, drawn in despite himself by curiousity.  The rusty spotted cat spared a sharp glance at the rodent then bounded after the sound of the ragdoll's voice.  "Hey, what's the sto-" You're kidding.  The feline's mouth clamped shut, opened, only to snap shut again as his eyes spotted an familiar pattern of spots on a small tail, far higher than he'd like to see.  "Keona?" His brows rise sharply, eyes darkening a smidge.  Did she really climb all the way up there?  He had to admit that was impressive, given he had never seen her do anything like this before, but congratulations could be conducted after she was on solid ground.

"Can you get down?"  Worse came to worse, he could catch her.  It would be simple.  Air.  Even water.  Or he could shift into something else.  Something that could climb and carry.  Or he could just climb up to get her.  Kian would have no trouble making his way up to her, then back.  Would it be better - the fatherly thing - to try directing her first?  Encourage her to do it on her own?  Or was it too dangerous at this point? He knew he could not bare her falling.

Re: climbing [★] go the distance - CAESAR CIPHER. - 09-17-2018

FORGETTING LIES AND PAIN !
CAESAR CIPHER. MALE. THE TYPHOON. OFFICER.
The trees were almost a natural place for a cat and Caesar often visited the jungle for that reason. He didn't really like being up in the trees per say, but he did like being around them, mostly due to the cover they provided. That being said, the demon was nearby whenever he heard the sound of Kian and Bakugou and eventually followed their voices to join the two. "What's going on?" The demon asked, before looking up in the trees where they were looking at. "Oh." He said, flicking his tail with disinterest. He figured that it was actually something to look up to but unfortunately, it was just Keona.

Caesar let out a sigh upon realizing this, his curious expression changing to his normal, non-caring one. "If she got up there, she can get down." He responded to both Kian and Bakugou, his tone returning back to its monotonous state.

Fortunate for Bakugou, Keona had tasted the scent of a nearby crewmate before his voice met her ears.  She was still startled, ripped away from her antsy thoughts and half-baked plans to escape the branches of the tree.  The tiny kitten did not want to seem frightened though, or incapable.  Yet as her father's voice reached her, Keona lingered on the brink of accepting defeat.

She did not know how to get down.  Up was simple.  Up was relatively easy.  She just had to dig her claws in and pull herself higher.  Down had to be the opposite but it made her head spin, her sense of balance turning topsy-turvy.  No one would think lesser of her, she argues, for needing help getting down.  Well, she did not include Caesar of course, but he did not care about her anyway.  His opinion, she decided, was not relevant to her sense of self-worth.  Her father on the other hand...

She bit her lip, ears flicking back.  "No," she finally called in answer, rolling her eyes sharply at Caesar's remark.  Whatever, you have functional eyes, lemon.  "I don't know how, da." What if she lost her claw-holds on the way down if she did try?
