✯ — female. striker of the typhoon. blind. rusty spotted cat.  ref. bio.
Keona never liked the feeling of fabric.  Certainly not on her face.  It had been brought up once, that she could cover her eyes in battle, to prevent an illusion of optional blindness.  To confuse her enemies.  It was, in her opinion, a silly concept.  If she was going to battle blind anyway, it was a waste of effort.  The tiny feline could appreciate the idea of deception, but not in matters such as her inability to see.

She did wonder sometimes.  It was hard sometimes.  Were her eyes off-putting?  Was there something irregular about them?  Keona, after all, could not see what they looked like.  She assumed, logically, that something stood out about them, for she never had to vocalize she was blind before someone pieced it together.  They looked at her and knew.  Simple.  Plain as daylight.  Something off.  Something irregular.

She fretted, every once and a while, when she was alone with her thoughts -- an extremely common occurrence.  Did they make her look strange?  Did they make anyone uncomfortable?  Especially when she made an effort to follow their voices, to 'look' up at them.  The pale sea-green hues only stared blankly in the correct direction, unfocused, not a single image registering in her brain.

Keona wanted to be good.  A good pirate.  She did not care so much, for any attention, but she wanted to be, at the very least, looked at as a good pirate.  It did not have to be now.  She was still learning.  Growing.  But one day.  A good pirate.  Talented.  Not feared necessarily, but respected.  It was not in intent to hurt anyone afterall, for she simply believed in the freedom of piracy.  Take what you want, give nothing back.  Chase the horizon.  Freedom.

There was a small aspect of appearance, to being a pirate.  A cool pirate, anyway.  For the child had heard plenty of others say someone looked cool.  Perhaps that was why there were often days the Typhoon spent painting each other and accessorizing.  Keona did not mind letting others paint on her, given the promise it was something cool, but she had avoided accessorizing for it seemed pointless to her.

Perhaps it was worth giving it a go.

That being the case, Keona decided to go full out.  Tiny legs carrying her to Capricorn to find a new 'look'.  It was not hard to find a few crewmates to help her.  Simple rules.  Nothing cutesy.  Nothing over the top.  Not fancy hats or nonsense.  In the end, she did feel the foreignness of cloth over her eyes, hiding her distinct eyes from view.  A simple blank bandana, with a blood red paw print on the side.  A clip-on earing on her left ear; simply a circular, golden piece of jewelry.

It all felt odd.  Not quite like her.  Keona would give it a try for the day, but she was not sure she would want to deal with remembering to put on accessories when she woke up in the morning.

A new 'look' found, Keona now faced the boredom that often sank it when she'd finished whatever she had set her mind to.  The price of being rather quiet and antisocial.  Absently, the tiny rusty spotted kitten lingered on the beach, slowly following the shore, her paws just barely grazing over water when the tide came in.
