"um, i suppose if you removed their poison glands beforehand, you could try it? but some species' skin is coated in their own poison, and it's not easy to remove." junji responded. he wasn't sure why the captain had asked that, but he supposed if people still wanted to eat frogs, then... he couldn't really stop them.

his gaze turned to temulin next and gave a nod. "yes! there are lots and lots of different kinds of frogs and toads in the jungle here. most of them aren't very nice, but there's a good bunch somewhere in there." the child cooed, looking down at the three amphibians with a smile. they all croaked softly.

a moment later, and fischer arrived. another lady from when he had washed up; she was so kind and gentle, she reminded him of his mother. junji smiled sweetly at her question. "of course," he murmured, turning to look at his little friends again. "the tree frog is small and really thin. she's a really bright green with orange feet, and she has some blue on her legs and sides. her eyes are really big and red." he moved his gaze to the cane toad. "the cane toad is really big, about half my size, but he's young. he can grow a bit bigger than me. he's brown and bumpy and has two bigger bumps on his shoulders, which are his glands. he looks angry all the time." the creature croaked loudly, eliciting a giggle from junji before he moved on to the last one. "the yellow-bellied toad is only slightly bigger than the tree frog. he's light brown and also bumpy, but his underside is dark gray and has big patches of yellow. he also looks angry."

junji sat back and looked to fischer again with a quiet purr. "was that good?" the kitten chirped, tail curling happily.

✯ — female. striker of the typhoon. blind. rusty spotted cat.  ref. bio.
Keona nodded quietly, eyes bright.  So if the poison got into their system... Well, even if a frog or toad was nice enough to let her touch them when she found them out in the jungle, she'd rather just follow them than bother them like that.  It was more respectful to them, and a bit safer for her.  The kitten would keep it in mind though.

At Pincher's question, the Striker made a face.  Why'd he want to eat them?  Even without the poison, Keona preferred them as playmates than food; they were so silly after all.  Yet they were also oddly textured, and she was not sure why'd anyone would want them in their mouth, even if they weren't fatal.  Oh well.  Keona knew that everyone had different tastes, and maybe amphibians was one of them for some.

She bounced on her paws absently, trying to think up another question as others arrived and joined in.  Nothing was coming to her however, and she curled her tail around her paws and just listened.  As Junji began describing them, her mind turned a real blank.  At least she understood their basic shapes now, but the colors went over her head.  It sounded like they had a lot of them, though it made no difference to her.

Her ear flicked.  Keona shifted a little and titled her head back in Junji's direction, ignoring the discomfort constricting her chest.  She would never understand descriptions of color.  "Why're they angry?" Maybe they were tired of everyone, she supposed.  Keona certainly did not like having so much attention on herself at once; the poor amphibians probably did not either.
