/ decided to make his return thread his 100th and continue with his ooc prompt further on in the week so he has chance to settle in again cx
Even with the male's good intentions time and time again, his loyalty had been an easy thing to question given his quiet place in clan life. Of course, he hadn't made it outwardly obvious that he was a devoted follower of the star-lovers, nor had he said that he hated them and everything they stood for. The truth leaned moreso towards that first ideology, though Ren wouldn't be herded completely into a generic lifestyle he'd admit that he enjoyed the company of the Ascendants. Their move towards neutrality had troubled him more than it should've done, the place he lived in should have been one that cared about life, not be indifferent towards it, he'd needed time away to think about what that new alignment meant for the clan.
A fortnight away had taught him that if he was to abandon the group now even with their shift, he'd be no less apathetic than them. Words of leaders were one thing of course, but until their divergence showed physically, the former Guardian would let the issue settle. To most, it wasn't a big deal, the domestic cat would rather avoid being selfish out of fear he'd be no better than those he called enemies. Those same enemies were partially a reason why it'd taken Ren so long to return after deciding on his plan of action. Like when he first joined, there were clear signs of fatigue on the young male, with various cuts and bruises appearing between strands of his unkempt fur. None were particularly deep or troubling, the Ascendant's awful cleric situation before his absence made him determined to avoid getting badly beat up.
Gliding over the borders, a slight limp in his step, the felidae would duck his head sheepishly as a bitter gust of wind attacked his face. He should've brought a coat or blanket or something as souvenir from his travels, there was no hay on these hills to protect him from the winter. Mouth gaped, too dry to let any of his typical hushed words come out, the male prepared for an isolated and uninterrupted journey back home. Once again he'd be the outcast, with thoughts of sleep on the horizon Ren couldn't form an opinion on that even if he tried. Grey eyes closing briefly as he walked, memories flashed over him. You cocky brat! Get back here!. The feline recalled his own smirk, even smiling a little as the older voice replayed in his brain the second time. I-I'm sorry... I'll get help, I'll atone, I promise.
He paused at the entrance, invisible lips pursing. Was that his mental manipulation at work? He'd discovered it recently, if the Ascendants couldn't step up and be justice bringers, maybe he could with it. "Ah," the stunted sound escaped him, ears perked to their full length as he looked around. Did he just enter the Observatory again and risk attack? Ren was sure he could handle a couple of guards and some angry grandmothers, but 'troublemaker' wasn't exactly an impression he wished to leave on the newcomers. They'd have thoughts already with a stranger walking right up to their front door. Sitting down like a housecat waiting to be let back inside by its owners, Ren even contemplating pawing at the door for a minute or two, he decided he'd wait for some company before delving deeper.
