Emerging from a salty seaside cave, the young samoyed's stomach growled. It padded onto the nearest shore, one of the few clean ones in the area. Approaching the sea, the dog took a deep breath. It took a step in, then some more, and felt a fish's presence on its left some feet away.
The samoyed focused on breathing, and as it did so, a current began to form in the direction of the fish. Finally catching onto its prey's exact location, the dog breathed in deep. In a split second the fish sailed up into the air in a sphere of water. The predator took a sharp breath, and the fish's presence was no more. Returning to its rhythm, the dog pulled the sphere toward itself, dropping the fish at its paws. There was a hole punched through the fish's head, which the samoyed inspected. Its handiwork with producing an ice shard through its prey's skull was above par, it seemed.
...
As it turned to bring the fish's bones back out of its cave, the dog felt a presence it had not noticed before. Focusing, it could feel a whole group of what appeared to be large animals in the distance. The samoyed tossed the bones to its side, deciding to confront the new foes. It breathed and pulled water out of the shore's wet sands, forming a crude, pointed mask of ice around its face and some rings of ice around its ankles. It bounded off into the forest, making its way toward the presences until they were near enough to be heard.
The samoyed failed to realize that it had walked right into the middle of town, in plain sight.
