She wished that things were simple and easy. Some days were better than others. This day was not one of them. The moment she had woken up from her sleep she was already ticking. Her head jerking erratically, throat clearing and smacking her leg and rather hard too. It was just a bad ticking day and even trying to do simple tasks had become much to hard or even hazardous for the youth to do. At least on her own. But she didn't live with anyone so she had to manage on her own. She had done it this far so why not continue to do so. Taking in a deep breath she left the house, clearly tired. Her suddenly lifted and she almost tripped trying to go down the stairs. Her face scrunched up in rapid succession before she shook her head. She didn't feel like doing much of anything and so she made her way to a nearby tree.

Plopping down she curled her thick tail around her equally large body and hid her head in her fur. Ears jerked and moved, right eye trying to wink at everything. She just wanted to go to sleep but it was much too early. At least she wouldn't get sleep later if she did. So instead she tried to suppress the feeling and the need but it just made everything so uncomfortable. But she was so tired.

Vayne had seen Mariana here-and-there, though she had never been around the younger girl long enough to see any of her ticks. The orange-spotted Cipher was relaxing nearby when Mariana went past, settling down beside a tree, her ears and eye twitching. Frowning, Vayne rose to her paws and quietly made her way over to the Minnow. "Hey, Mariana... right?" That's what she's heard others call the girl, at least. "It's a little early to be out, don't you think? Are you doing okay?" Maybe it was just some sort of motherly instinct that was forming, but the way Mariana was twitching made the Beta a little worried. Plus, Mariana was pretty young, and with the threat of Caesar lurking around - Vayne assumed - it would be dangerous for a little kid to out here alone.

Michael had struggled with mental health issues for his entire life, but never neurological ones. He had never dealt with tics in the past, with the only comparable experience he had being repeated actions he would take when he was feeling particularly anxious. However, those normally weren't involuntary. Rather, they were just actions he repeated because they did a bit to ease the anxious feeling coiled up inside. Regardless, despite his lack of personal experience with tics, that didn't mean he had never encountered them before in others. He had been a traveler for most of his life, after all, and he had met lots of different kinds of people. Some with the very same issue that Marianas was currently dealing with. Although... most of them had been much older than Marianas currently was, and had more of a handle on "dealing with" their tics – for the most part, anyways.

It was because of this that Michael sadly didn't have much advice that he could provide the girl with. Hell, even if he had advice to give, he wouldn't be sure if it was the right thing to do. After all, Mari seemed exhausted, and the dealer didn't even know her well... she probably didn't want unsolicited advice about her tics. Still, when the bobcat spotted Vayne heading over, he decided it would be a good idea for him to do so as well. If only to make sure that Vayne didn't say the wrong thing, considering his niece was young, and likely hadn't encountered tics in the past. It wasn't long before Michael made his way over, settling beside Vayne and offering her a brief nod before he turned back to Marianas. After a moment of hesitation, he found himself tilting his head to one side, speaking sympathetically, "Rough day, huh?" He wished that there was something that he could do... perhaps Roan would be able to help? Tics could be caused for a variety of reasons, and the soothsayer would probably know better than he would.

MARIANAS

Lifting her head up a bit the kit would blink, feeling the strain in her muscles. She tilted her head slightly and tried not to yawn. Well at least she tried not to till her head jerked to the side and she had to pretend it was nothing more than a shake of her head. She had seen Vayne around in a multitude of places but had not actively gone to talk to her. Or at least not directly. She had been there when the other had declared which division she was going to whole she, herself, hadn't even put any thought into it. She was six months but she was still bumbling everywhere. Quickly she tried to smile and her maw chattered, clattering teeth against teeth, ears pinning against her skull. "Yeah, that's me." She gave a small and almost anxious smile as she looked down at her paw. Come on, she could do this. Just stop for a moment. "Uh, well, bitch. Bitchy bitch." The child suddenly seethed before her eyes widened and she pressed a paw to her maw. "No, wait! I didn't mean that! Promise!"

Really she just wanted to go and hide. Just run away and no one be able to find he. Her had turned then as someone else came up. A familiar face as well and she saw the look on his face. His understanding almost put her at ease. Almost. She winked at him accidently, a paw coming up to strike her right cheek. Maybe she should just stay inside. "Mhm. I'm just tired. Or an alien..." She muttered the last part before pressing her head against her paws. Ugh.

Such not to say he held even a basic understanding of that which prompted her own, how it framed her every day, interaction tempered and ever watched, always apology for that beyond control present at the edge of conscious thought. Incomparable his own frequent issues, mental all, lessened the impact of long since faded scar tissue, not entirely necessary to understand, however.

Known the child in only a vague sense, not even broached what he may deem an acquaintanceship, though it was no fault of Marianas, rather he simply grew further enclosed in thoughts that wished to widen the gulf between himself and all others. That little was viewed in a positive light, pleasant always the observation of a youth protected and allowed to flourish. Conflicting his thoughts when attention turned and caught were they, loose their configuration, unhurried conversation distance stole away upon a salt laden breeze. Lip caught and worried at, briefly thought on the reception his intrusion may receive. Too many the cons that towered above a few meagre pros, sudden the rousing, tongue tracing broken skin.

"Oh." Soft murmur fell as his mind settled once more within the moment, broken remnants of discarded though falling away, worried where puncture had been made. Enough this miniscule pain to keep at bay nerves that sparked with a persistent worry, rejection understood and thus would be accepted, never diminished the pain already gathered, too fragile the heart hammering against his ribs.

Closer stepping, words registering, remark one that prompted numerous unsure blinks, away skirting vision. Alien. The term one heard before, stories rising, quelled all else for a moment. He knew her meaning, understood it as once held a similar notion. Different their situations, never to be replicated that one was present within even with the framework to act as guide, similarities too many to perform wilful ignorance. "Don't look alien to me." Attempt staged to soften the hoarse quality of his voice, such a futile attempt, rather it seemed worsened with how low of a volume he used.

Bitch. Bitchy bitch. Marianas's words certainly caught Michael off guard, and he wasn't able to hold back the small bout of laughter that left him. He knew well that Marianas couldn't control it, and he felt guilty about laughing, but he also knew Marianas would genuinely never say something like that to Vayne. As a result, he was quick to pat Vayne lightly on the head, saying with another light chuckle, "She can't quite control these things, Vayne. Like she said, she didn't mean it." He was fairly sure his niece could understand that Marianas was struggling, but he wanted to make sure he backed the girl up. Just so that Vayne wouldn't think Marianas was lying just to cover up calling her a bitch. It was pretty clear that Mari was already having a bad day – she didn't need anyone potentially scolding her over something she couldn't control. Although, knowing Vayne... there was definitely a non-zero chance she would end up not saying anything about possibly being insulted.

Seeing Marianas's distraught face over her tics made Michael's heart ache, and he was quick to agree with Harland. Nodding quickly in Har's direction, the dealer spoke firmly to Marianas, a smile on his muzzle, "Don't worry, Marianas... you're not an alien, or some kind of freak, or anything else like that. I can't imagine how frustrating this all must be... maybe you could try talking to Roan about it? Or one of the sages. They might know some things they could give you to help out, or they might be able to teach you how to deal with it more effectively. I wish I could help out more, but y'know. I don't wanna suggest anything wrong..." He chuckled lightly after that, briefly reaching up to scratch at the back of his own neck. Although he had seen others with tics in the past, he hadn't actually asked them how they dealt with their tics. Perhaps he should've, and then he'd be able to give more satisfying advice.

To an extent, Danny had a general understanding of the concept of things happening way beyond control. Luckily, at least in comparison to Marianas, his own neurological frustrations were never dangerous, unless he was in very specific situations that were already risky to begin with. And he hadn't fallen down the stairs yet in the middle of a randomized anxiety attack, so he was probably alright. That was really where the ability to relate started and ended, but he would have been ridiculous to go as far as to compare the two even a little more than that one fact.

He wasn't entirely sure if any more social interaction would have tired her out more, so Danny opted to hang somewhat behind Harland when he arrived, a little surprised but otherwise unbothered by the profane outburst on Marianas' end. He didn't want to go and say something that could be misconstrued as rude, not even a little, and managed to think so hard on what to and what not to say that he ended up saying nothing at all, just smiling sympathetically at the kitten. "Tired...yeah." He echoed quietly, as if he was going to say something, but still chose not to.
