LEADER ❝ RHINE ❞ PALMCLAN

Normally, Rhinestone wouldn't have held a meeting so quickly after the last one, even if it was only a miniature one. However, what he had in mind was pretty damn exciting, and he wanted to share it with everyone as soon as possible. Not only that, but they also had someone in the clan who had hit a pretty important milestone recently. With this in mind, Rhine leaped atop the meeting rock, calling out to all those around him, "All those old enough to brave the waves, please gather for a mini-meeting! I know we all gathered here quite recently, but I have some exciting things to share with you... and one of our own is going from one important stage of life to the next." The grin on the tom's muzzle was impossible to miss, the male clearly delighted with getting to lead another child from kithood to apprenticehood. Some found the ceremony of it all boring, or unnecessary, but Rhine had never seen it that way. He had always seen as something to be respected, and enjoyed. It made every step of a warrior's journey seem all the more grand.

Once a fair number of Palmclan members had begun to gather around, Rhi offered all of them a smile, sitting down and wrapping his tail around his paws. After he had done so, he launched into his explanation, "The main reason that I called this meeting is because I wanted to introduce a new tradition to you all. It will be a tradition that will allow both new members and old to feel a special connection to Palmclan, as well as their clanmates, and it will have three steps to it. This tradition will be known as The Warrior's Plight." He could already notice a few excited or curious looks thrown in his direction, as well as a few uneasy ones. He continued proudly, trying to reassure those who were unsure, "The first step of The Plight will be for a new apprentice or warrior to explore Palmclan's territory thoroughly, and then gather some others to join them at their favorite location of the territory, explaining why they love it, or holding an activity there. If someone who has already explored Palmclan's territory thoroughly wishes to go through with The Plight, then they don't have to do the exploration part, just the one where they show off their favorite part of the territory." He noticed a few nods throughout the crowd, which was certainly a reassuring sign.

Once he had given the crowd a moment to absorb what had already been said, Rhinestone took a deep breath before moving on, "The second step of this ritual will be for a warrior or apprentice to go and hunt the biggest piece of prey that they can find within their given field, whether it be aqauatic, forest, or avian prey. They will then bring that piece of prey back to camp, sharing it with others and telling the story of how the catch was." He noticed a few pleased nods throughout the crowd, no doubt many warriors pleased with the idea of eating the biggest piece of prey they could find while bragging of their accomplishment. The thought caused him to chuckle before he spoke, "The final step of the ritual will be for the apprentice or warrior to receive their seashell necklace directly from me, complete with a specially colored pale blue shell, and the unique title of Plighted Soul. Those who already have seashell necklaces will simply be presented with the new seashell, as well as the title." He noticed several more nods passing over the crowd, which caused him to sigh in relief. He had expected a bit more pushback, even if it wasn't outright protest.

Once the new tradition was thoroughly explained, Rhine allowed the delighted little smile to return to his face, his gaze searching the crowd below. He spoke lightly, a sense of mirth in his voice, "As I said earlier, we also have someone among us that has reached the age where it had come time for him to take on new duties. So, [member=15758]HAILKIT.[/member] Could you please step forward?" He was excited to conduct the proper ceremony, his eyes similarly searching the crowd for Sugarspice. He knew she would make an amazing mentor, and had the utmost faith in her. Hopefully, Hailkit would end up feeling the same way.

Oh, Hailkit was definitely waiting for this day. His caretaker was trying to make sure his fur was thoroughly cleaned and that he was well-presented for his apprenticeship, despite out excited he was getting and almost wriggling out of her grasp as Rhinestonestar talked about the new tradition he was implementing. Let me go, I'm clean enough! He pleaded mentally at his caretaker, knowing better than to screech out loud and interrupt his leader.

Finally though, what seem like ages, Rhinestonestar was finally getting to the part for his apprenticeship. When the leader asked Hailkit to come up, the long-furred kit nearly came tumbling towards him, before his caretaker hissed quietly at him, "Walk up there slowly."

Rolling his eyes, Hailkit puffed out his chest and shoved his caretaker's paw aside, making his way towards Rhinestonestar with his head held high.[glow=COLOR,1,400] ━ ✧*:･ﾟ[/glow]

THE MAELSTROM

Poor the prior assemblance, at least upon an official scale with the defining call ringing forth across the shallow valley, abandoned the child that had been found just beyond the reach of rising tide. Arrival had come in short time frame, quelled doubts that plagued simplistic thoughts, forgiveness easy within the comfort of rust hued coat. He had returned, as had been promised.

Involuntary response that which saw opaque claws sink into gathered moss, in the drying strands feathers and fragments of coats striped from prior meals, dark the rising tide casting a stone into his throat. Abandoned his place, confusion within voice that arose after, at his heels the one tasked with his care following. Gentle her soothing presence as realisation arose, atop his place before them all high stood Rhinestone, heavy his fall upon haunches, into her belly leaning as ears were swept by constant strokes of her tongue. Silent they as the proceedings begun, rudimentary the retelling that would later be shared to make sure Foam understood the instated ritual.

Yet, even as unimportant this, of note the call, a name known and the one who bore it looked to.

Faux the surety with which he walked forth at the beckons, picture of the warrior time would make him if made only a base image for his age, a child even in his wish to appear more. Indignant the squeak Foam voiced yet his own progression was halted by a paw about his middle, legs left to hang in the air as he tried to twist about and question his caretaker on why she had sought to stop him.

The call of a meeting so soon after the one before had caused slight alarm for Suga at first, her ears pricked and eyes wide as she made her way to the gathering of her clanmates, though a sigh of relief left her maw as she heard the news. There had been no need to worry about something such as another attack or anything of the sort, it was simply a couple things that Rhinestonestar seemed excited to get through now rather than waiting for the next meeting.

Dipping her head slightly in thought at the words spoken towards the group, Suga would let her mind wander slightly as she tried to think of things that she could do for the new tradition while she watched Hailkit walk up towards Rhinestone. He was finally going to become an apprentice and she couldn't imagine just how excited he must have been in that moment.

Rhine smiled as he watched Hailkit enthusiastically step up, the boy no doubt excited for what he knew to be coming. He had spotted the other's caretaker fussing over him just a moment before, but Rhinestone would've been proud of the child no matter what he looked like. Stepping down to meet Hailkit on an equal level, Rhine began with a smile, "Hailkit... you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day forth, until you have mastered both combat and all forms of prey hunting, and earned your warrior name, you shall be known as Hailpaw. Your mentor shall be... Sugarspice. I hope that Sugarspice will pass down all she knows to you... Sugarspice, can you please step forward?" He turned his gaze towards Sugarspice, tail flicking lazily forth until the shecat approached. Once she did, he continued, "Sugarspice, you are ready to take on an apprentice. Although you were not trained within Palmclan, you have shown yourself to be warm and determined, and I believe you will be a wonderful mentor to Hailpaw. I expect you to pass down all that you know." He gave Suga a deep nod of respect before he stepped back, motioning for Sugarspice and Hailpaw to touch noses, as was traditional of the ceremony.

He was an apprentice... He was an apprentice!

Hailpaw was beaming as Rhinestonestar spoke, almost bursting with happiness, and turned to his mentor with glee. He bounded up to Sugarspice, looking up at her with shining eyes.[glow=COLOR,1,400] ━ ✧*:･ﾟ[/glow]

The words rung in her ears as she felt her paws move underneath her, smile forming on her maw as she took the steps forward closer to her leader and Hailpaw, eyes looking down at the now apprentice with excitement and pride. She hadn't known Hailkit the whole time he had been born, but she had known him long enough to know that he would be an amazing apprentice, and would learn a lot. Always eager to learn and grow, he'd make a fine warrior one day.

"Thank you, Rhinestonestar." She would speak, head turning towards the leader for a moment before turning back to Hailpaw, head soon reaching down to touch noses with her new apprentice. Her first apprentice.
