[Schism]

Exhausted was an understatement but, like her partner, the cheetah endured. She took the comfort and encouragement with pride. She couldn’t help but tell that Acnestis was tired as well and it made her chest swell at the thought that he kept going for her sake. It was mixed with a gratitude. She knew little of the surrounding area and without her companion she would be completely lost, if not dead even. It made her cringe just thinking of what her situation would’ve been.

Sadly those were the thoughts that ran through her mind as she padded behind the predator. Luckily she had enough wherewithal to avoid the sharp branches. Even better, the large steps of the dinosaur kept her path foliage clear. The brush having already been trampled upon.

When they finally came to their destination, Schism drew in a breath. It seemed cozy and safe, the latter being a glad change from what she was used to. She gave a content purr, nudging Acnestis to lay down with her. They were both tired and they both knew it.

Even still, Schism felt immensely happy with the warmth of her savior and new partner, letting a content sigh as she took in his scent.

[Sunburned Lily]

Acnestis settles.

  He curls around her, forelimbs tucking against his chest, head bowed respectfully as she scents him. The sky rumbles once more, wind howling through the trees, sun kissing the West horizon to a blushing pink. Storm clouds gather like a thick cotton blanket. As the first droplets of rain falls Acnestis carefully rests his head on her as to shield her from the worst of it. His touch is surprisingly gentle; hesitant. As if she would suddenly snap at him or refuse in some way. & if she did, he would respect it. He does not wish to upset the female.

  As the minutes pass the sky grows darker & darker. Lighting zigzags through the air. Thunder rolls. The sky buckles & waves like the stormy ocean water. The are shielded from the winds, & even most of the rain, though it seems to grow heavier by the moment-- coming to its climax as dusk falls, the sun dipping below the horizon.
