Crabs. An annoyance more than anything. A potential obstacle the tiny feline kept a wary caution of. During her first moons among the Typhoon, still discovering the marvel of living on land rather than sea, she'd fallen victim to the sharp snip of those claws. Lucky. The crab had been smaller than her. Most certainly stood close. Typically about half her size at least. And luck rarely ever stayed to one's side forever.Nor did the naivety of youth last long. Keona knew better to run about the shore with no regard to her surroundings. She had to pay extra attention. Sand shifted often enough discerning the cause was no easy feat. Especially close to the water, where little paws often padded alongside.
The ocean called to the petite privateer. Her home. Regardless of her pale eyes. She never leapt into the water, of course. She knew nothing of how to swim. But the waves hardly frightened her when she took her first steps on the wooden planks of a sea-faring ship. No. She often walked the shoreline, barely centimeters away from the waves.
As she trot alongside the water this time, her sharp ears perked at the whisper of shifting sand. Her paws halted abruptly and she cocked her head to the side. Even held her breath for a second. Just the sand... No, a crab. Big one. Eager to avoid stepping too close to the crustacean and suffering the consequences, Keona furrowed her brow.
For a moment her ears picked up nothing but the push and pull of the water. The breath of the ocean. With a blink, a wave crashed farther up the beach. Then pulled back, stronger. Taking away a particular crustacean and nearly knocking a tiny wild cat over.
Keona pushed her paws deeper into the sand, holding herself steady. As the steady rhythm of the waves returned, the fae began tugging herself out of the little holes she made. Behind her a spotted tail flicked to and fro, curling inwards in thought. Well. At least nothing had iced over.
Feeling steadily more exhausted than a moment before, the feline took a seat where the water would barely kiss her paws. Well.
