practice [★] how far I'll go - Keona. - 12-09-2019 — if I fall, get knocked down, pick myself up off the ground — Crabs. An annoyance more than anything. A potential obstacle the tiny feline kept a wary caution of. During her first moons among the Typhoon, still discovering the marvel of living on land rather than sea, she'd fallen victim to the sharp snip of those claws. Lucky. The crab had been smaller than her. Most certainly stood close. Typically about half her size at least. And luck rarely ever stayed to one's side forever.Nor did the naivety of youth last long. Keona knew better to run about the shore with no regard to her surroundings. She had to pay extra attention. Sand shifted often enough discerning the cause was no easy feat. Especially close to the water, where little paws often padded alongside. The ocean called to the petite privateer. Her home. Regardless of her pale eyes. She never leapt into the water, of course. She knew nothing of how to swim. But the waves hardly frightened her when she took her first steps on the wooden planks of a sea-faring ship. No. She often walked the shoreline, barely centimeters away from the waves. As she trot alongside the water this time, her sharp ears perked at the whisper of shifting sand. Her paws halted abruptly and she cocked her head to the side. Even held her breath for a second. Just the sand... No, a crab. Big one. Eager to avoid stepping too close to the crustacean and suffering the consequences, Keona furrowed her brow. For a moment her ears picked up nothing but the push and pull of the water. The breath of the ocean. With a blink, a wave crashed farther up the beach. Then pulled back, stronger. Taking away a particular crustacean and nearly knocking a tiny wild cat over. Keona pushed her paws deeper into the sand, holding herself steady. As the steady rhythm of the waves returned, the fae began tugging herself out of the little holes she made. Behind her a spotted tail flicked to and fro, curling inwards in thought. Well. At least nothing had iced over. Feeling steadily more exhausted than a moment before, the feline took a seat where the water would barely kiss her paws. Well. Re: practice [★] how far I'll go - hushsound. - 12-10-2019 HUSH SOUND "Link... it's time to wake up." Crabs were not something that Hush commonly had to worry about, even within the island based territory of the Typhoon. Even with his current injuries, it was fairly easy for the large wolf to bat the creatures away before they could attempt to sink their sharp pinchers into some part of his body. Even when he had been only a small domestic feline, it had been fairly easy to just nudge them away with his sword. Or, if he was in a particularly hungry mood, slice them in half with it. Even with their tough and occasionally sharp outward shells, they couldn't stand up to his razor sharp blade, and often once their carapace was split in half, he could eagerly and greedily go to town on the tasty meat inside. It was the tactic he had employed at Tanteri's little crab cracking event, and one that he broke out quite often while hungry, since crustaceans were usually fairly easy to come across when you went down to the beach. Still, it meant that he had no innate fear or caution of them, as Keona did, so the canine would often find himself just wandering along the beach, not keeping much of an eye out for anything in his path. Up to this point, it hadn't caused any troubles, but a small part of him thought that perhaps it was time for him to change his behaviors. After all, there wasn't just crabs to worry about. There was also particularly sharp shells, or jellyfish that had been tugged too close to the shore... The subject had been on his mind as he walked along the water, not aware of Keona doing much the same thing. He would've liked to go romping farther into the water, since he knew how to swim quite well, but he couldn't at the moment, thanks to the wounds that had been inflicted by Trojan. Sure, they were bandaged up quite nicely now, but he still didn't want salt water soaking through those bandages and bringing with it immense stinging pain. So, rather than his usual afternoon swim, he was forced to just pad along the edge of the water, only his paws becoming soaked by the salty sea. When the waves began to rise, Hush found a frown curling onto his muzzle, retreating fro. The water before it could crash into his side and do exactly what he had just been worrying about. As he watched the water retreat back afterwards, his eyes caught sight of Keona, andnhe found himself growing curious as to what the tiny wildcat was doing. Tail wagging a bit behind him, the large canine limped his way over to her, sitting down nearby and clearing his throat so that she would know he was there. After all, he didn't wish to scare the crap out of the poor little rusty spotted cat. Once be was sure she knew of his presence, he barked softly, his voice hoarse and soft, his usually rough voice exacerbated by the wound that was still healing on his throat, "Hey, Keona. What're you doing out here? I can't imagine you're watching the waves..." It wasn't meant to be a dig about her blindness, just a simple statement of fact. After all, how much fun could watching the water be when you couldn't even see it? He supposed the sounds of the waves could've been soothing, but it wasn't as if one couldn't hear them from the main ship or anything. tags - penned by @stilly Re: practice [★] how far I'll go - Kian. - 12-18-2019 Kian still recalls the anxiety and wariness that came with introducing Keona to land. She'd been born during his time as a pirate captain and never touched sand until he decided they ought to live among the Typhoon. With the excitment came the facts. Keona was small and unfamiliar with the environment he had introduced her to. The passing of time had elevated his fears and soon Kian no longer fretted about his daughter's habits of taking off by herself to wander. He still worried of course. The Irishman doubted a day would come where he didn't -- it came with the territory of parenthood. Keona was an independent soul however and Kian felt nothing but pride whenever he heard of her achievements and smiled fondly whenever she came to mind. As the small feline trotted across the warm sand, he spotted two figures close to the waves. One small enough to only be his pride and joy. Smiling, the pirate changed route and joined Hushsound in pondering Keona's purposes. His memory served to remind him he often found Keona close to the edge of the water. She had always lingered there. It had come to no surprise to him later when he discovered she had inherited his ability to manipulate the element. Kian does worry though. She did make sure not to step too close during high tide, right? Or stay wary of crabs and jellyfish? Or- God I'm becoming my father. "Dia dhiut," he offered with a friendly grin, chasing away his rapid-fire thoughts. Re: practice [★] how far I'll go - Keona. - 12-18-2019

She caught his scent first but his consideration of her was always polite and she would never complain.

She took in his words quietly. Considering them. Indeed, she could not watch the waves. The thought had never occurred to her before. She supposed the pastime of watching the flow of water must be enjoyable then. A common pastime. One she bet her father may enjoy, actually. As though her mind conjured him from the very ocean depths, her father's bright voice cut the air. His very presence reminded her and her brows creased. Slowly, Keona raised a paw, listening to the ocean's rhythm. As her breath stilled, a small wave rose up from the water. She felt it. Heard it. Then let it go. A sharp splash echoed in her perked ears as the water rejoined the natural flow of the waves. "I like bein' close to the water," she murmured. She offered a sheepish smile. Likely, both Hushsound and Kian must know how dangerous the ocean was for someone who can't see. But she could hardly be close enough to connect to the water like she did from on board the Tempest. The creak of wood and overlap of nearby voices... It was all too loud. Too distracting. Close was better. © MADI Re: practice [★] how far I'll go - hushsound. - 12-18-2019 HUSH SOUND "Link... it's time to wake up." Blinking and looking up at the approach of Kian alongside him, the wolf felt his tail wag a bit from side to side as he dipped his head to the male in greeting. He was quite the fan of Kian, just as he was of Keona, since the other seemed like a very good father, not to mention the other had been the one to explain the various divisions to him. Plus, just in general, Keona seemed as though she has gotten her quiet and kind nature from her father. Hush's slightly fanboyish thoughts were broken up when Keona spoke, answering his question as well as her Father's greeting. Shifting his injured leg a bit, Hushsound let out a soft hum of confirmation before barking softly to the other, "Well... I suppose I can understand that. I've liked being near the water for quite a while now." That wasn't exactly hugely surprising considering how one of his old lives – the hero of the wind – had been sailing for nearly the entirety of his life within flooded Hyrule. The memories came rushing back of the waves splashing his face, as well as the strong scent of salt within the air, not unlike the scent that permeated through the Typhoon's territory. Clearing his throat to clear his thoughts as well, Hush continued softly, "I actually used to sail around on the seas a long time ago. Although... I've heard you and Kian have experience with stuff like that." He had only heard a few bits and pieces of what Keona and Kian's early life together had been like, but he knew quite well that it involved sailing as well. After all, Keona had asked him how long he had been a captain before. tags - penned by @stilly |
