[font=trebuchet ms]Darksouls stood at the edge of the water, looking out.
Clouds coated the horizon, dark and thick. There would certainly be a storm, he knew from experience. If it were a lightning storm, he would have to seek shelter; if it were just rain, maybe he could stay outside. Real rain had a smell about it that the rain in the underground never did, a life-giving, cleansing scent that made the dampness settling in his fur worth it. He heard no thunder yet, but some could strike in the blink of an eye.
He did, however, hear a flapping sound behind him. Turning his head slowly to look, he blinked. There was nothing there, but he could feel a weight settling on his head- more specifically, his antlers. Furrowing his brows, he walked over to the water and glanced down at his reflection.
Perched atop his antlers was a bird of some sort, with black feathers on its face and back, white feathers along its chest, and gray scale-looking patterns on its side. It stared into the reflection as well, its eyes landing on Darksouls' face. It opened its red beak and quacked softly, as if in greeting.
"Hello," Darksouls said in response, twitching his ears. It sounded like a duck, but didn't look like any duck he'd ever seen. He wasn't sure his antlers would be of much use for nesting, but if it wanted to stay perched for a bit, he had no problem with that. He had no other plans for today.
/so technically it's not a raven like I said in the Discord
/it's a scaly-sided merganser
/but w/e I like this better
