Months past. The red panda had lied dormant, eyes shut. Then, suddenly as a sign from some higher power, the boy awoke from his slumber. He slowly opened green eyes, meeting the unfamiliar terrain of Tanglewood. The land ruled by a gentle samoyed was his home now, even if he wasn't used to it. The boy blinked, stretching numb limbs, as he crossed into camp. The sunlight streamed through the canopy, dappling spots of light on his fur as he moved gracefully.

Compared to his acquaintances, he was smaller and therefore weaker. Still, a desire burned in him; the desire to see something fun happen. He couldn't stand boredom- why idle around like a statue when he could create interesting things? It was a slow, lazy morning, and the boy wanted to do something about it.

The child grinned, planting his paw firmly on the ground, digging his claws into the soil. A stream of heat jolted through his little body, starting from his chest and igniting along the way, through his veins and muscles. Then, the dry, cold grass ignited quickly. Leaping back, the boy couldn't contain his enjoyment and ignorance- he had set the territory on fire. Of course, it was small and contained, and could easily be put out by depriving it of oxygen with one's paw, but he watched it grow slowly.

The fire flickered in his green eyes. The child imagined what would happen if the fire got out of control- perhaps someone would get hurt or die. How fun, he thought- to be the guardian of this flame, to be the only thing protecting this clan from demise. His paw hovered over the slowly spreading flame, feeling its heat burn. The pain was fun.

His name was Beleth, and he was five months old. Old enough to realize mortality, to realize one shouldn't set things on fire for fun, yet he did it anyways. He was burned, and he merely smiled. He'd rather feel pain than boredom.

AND SOMETHING NEW WILL BREAK THE DAY
When one had the attention span of a goldfish, boredom killed.  When one had a mind full of questions and drive for answers however, the solution often found its way in the form of books.  So the little vixen had a mind to venture into the library, eager for something to sate her thirst for knowledge.  Maybe something had the answers she sought, but deep inside she... She doubted it.  Likely the questions she held were not answered in the pages of an old book.  Still.  She liked spending her time in the dusty pages.

The chaser had risen from her restless slumber -- the insomniac must have spent half the night stargazing -- to make her way through camp when the crack of flames caused her only-half-corporal ears to perk.  A light frown dusted her maw, unmatched hues blinking as she caught the sight of fire and Beleth.  Singed fur and flesh made her nose wrinkle. "Tha-that c-could get in-infected," the petite fox cautioned, brows creasing.

"I-I c-could... P-prevent that i-if you like," she added in hesitant offer.  She knew a few ways to that actually, though she can't recall where she'd learned them.  More questions.  "W-why are you pl-playing with fire?" A quiet beat, options weighed. "Y-you can ex-explore the li-library with me if y-you like." A better alternative, she believes, than toying with flames.  He was probably just bored.  The glitching child could understand that.

When boredom grew too fierce for her to bare, she sometimes tried playing with her own abilities, erratic as they were.  The results were oft bad.  Quite a few old scrapes and cuts attested to the cost of her unstable teleporting.

    "Oh no!"
Morgan barked, approaching the pair of younger Tanglers. He was on his usual daily rounds; he truly was not expecting something so strange to occur, let alone in seemingly broad daylight.
"Let me put that out for you two,"
he continued, doing his best to remain calm. Focusing his breathing, the samoyed pulled a stream of water from his bracers; he exhaled sharply, sending the stream flying to try dousing the flames. He was unsure if he would be able to cover everything, but he could at least try.
"Did either of you see who did this?"
he asked, a hint of worry finding its way into his expression. With the recent Rosebloods attacks, he had to be on guard - especially considering two children were right near the fire.

[div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 65%; font-family: timesnewroman; font-size: 10pt; text-align: justify;"]Jim was high maintanence, and his constant need for mental stimulation was part of that. So, yeah, he understood boredom well. For example, Riverside, Iowa, had been hell for young Jim. The schools weren't interesting enough, and he largely spent all of his time trying to find something to do. Which, fortunately for Jim, doubled as time away from Frank.
"Only you can prevent forest fires," Jim says, in a rather dramatic tone of voice, obviously joking. Damn, that line was centuries old, at least according to Jim's timeline. But, hey, Jim was all about the classics. It had been hilarious referencing stuff and seeing people's faces contort with confusion. Which was why he'd spent time learning the most obscure facts and references he could. It was great.
"I'll go with you, if you want." Jim says in response to Kiira's offering to the kid. He was pretty good at making stuff semi-entertaining, if he wanted to. Just part of his charm. Actually, though, Jim hadn't even been aware there was a library. Did these people use actual paperbacks, he wonders? He'd seen a lot more actual, physical books around than he did in his time. Which was weird, because these were actual animals. What year was he in?
