It would appear a stranger would be the first to taste the sweet smell on the air. Such an odd thing to be called, a stranger here. There were few that remembered him, and the statue of a scarred tiger such as he never made for a welcoming sight on most occasions. His presence loomed in such a way that never really escaped him, even as a medeci- healer that he was appointed to, Rey knew it only out of need. Vaas was the only one with any aptitude for the position before. The glades needed him, the glades needed him still, or was it the other way now? Things were twisted.
Vaas felt lost, caught in the rapid pull and push of a tide, gasping for air. looking around and expecting to find familiar faces with every twist and turn. The absence is startling, a moon away and the once busy streets of his home felt almost vacant now in comparison. Most kept to their cozy little homes on the sands, Vaas felt... like an outsider now. All over again. Even the boardwalk, the concrete jungle he once ruled... It was hollow in comparison to the feeling of friends, family.
It just made him want to try harder, be better.
The kit was new, at least- new in the sense that Vaas doesn't remember them from before. He abandoned the thought as soon as it started- it wasn't good, to compare. The glades were his. He made the claim before he ever factored in it's leader's want. When Rhinestonestar walked up the boardwalk and asked for him, it was decided. THe tiger would protect what was his. The glades, this precious feeling, no matter how far away it feels now. It would return... wouldn't it?
"Smells sweet" The tiger's tongue feels clumsy inside his maw. Dark jade eyes peeking out from the entranceway as he cautiously snuffs. Cautions about his welcome inside, but bold enough to engage, at least, for the moment.
