she had been sleeping peacefully, unaware of all the stuff anyone else was doing, until a howl snapped her to attention and pierced her heart. that sounded so much like-
her mother.
her mother.
no, no, no, this wasn't happening. jade wasn't there with her but she could feel it, some sort of mother-daughter connection. margaret was in pain and there wasn't much jade could do to help.
she sprang out of the place she was sleeping in, quickly shaking her wings in attempts to get them to work. she wasn't sure if they were strong enough to get her there quick enough but she began to shout for help, streaking across the camp and towards the sounds of commotion.
wings, please work when i need you the most.
they did for a brief amount of time, covering a good distance but she panicked and her mind went blank as her paws reached the floor quicker than she expected. she screamed in desperation but carried on despite burning lungs and gritted her teeth, flattening her wings and streamlining her body to gain speed.
upon arrival she spotted her mother in a mess of blood and gore and nearly lost her mind and faltered. she didn't really care for many people but her mother was her biggest role model, the most important person in her life. jade couldn't let the rogue just continue to tear into her mother's eye socket like that, so she readied herself and sprinted towards him, putting all her force into slamming into him, then crouching over the limp body of her mother, spreading her wings in an attempt to make herself look bigger and wincing at the blood that was staining her paws before realising margo's wing had been broken and resisting the urge to gag and throw up. but she kept her outside composure.
in truth, she was terrified. she had no experience in combat whatsoever, but this was her mother. someone who she would defend to her last breath. so now all she could do was wait, wait whilst somebody came to save her mother, wait and try to hold off the rogues that were eyeing her hungrily, having a new target to rip their talons into.
