How long had the cub been walking for? Days, it felt like. In all reality, she had only recently been dumped upon the shore. The humans that reigned over the rest of the world had given her a horrible start to her existence, a torturous entrance to life. Caged, kept from her mother, deemed disposable and dumped on unknown territory, Glass was less likely to trust now than ever before.
She didn't necessarily need anyone. She hadn't had anyone her entire life - she'd been kept separate from her mother and siblings from birth. The curse of being a runt, she supposed. Being the smallest and weakest in her litter is what lead to her abandonment. The kid couldn't be of much use as a thin, sickly creature. For all she knew, her siblings could be dead.
Regardless, the cub did not particularly want to be alone forever, and there wasn't much unclaimed land around the island. So she meandered around for a few days, checking out the various groups from a distance. The child was watchful of their comings and goings, generally from outside their territory. Tanglewood was the one she had eventually decided upon, thinking that the people and territory seemed most intriguing.
The child knew from her observations that crossing over the scent line was generally seen as a threat, so she was careful to stay a few steps back from the invisible marker. Her slate grey eyes traveled about, her puny, useless wings pressed firmly to her side. Sitting tall, proud, her tail was wrapped around her paws. She looked, outwardly, as if she was well versed in the language and customs of the island, when in truth she was simply mimicking the demeanor of those she had observed over the past week. This was how she knew to simply wait, to not speak quite yet, for questions would be asked of her.
