"speech" How long had the cub been walking for? Days, it felt like. In all reality, she had only recently been dumped upon the shore. The humans that reigned over the rest of the world had given her a horrible start to her existence, a torturous entrance to life. Caged, kept from her mother, deemed disposable and dumped on unknown territory, Glass was less likely to trust now than ever before. She didn't necessarily need anyone. She hadn't had anyone her entire life - she'd been kept separate from her mother and siblings from birth. The curse of being a runt, she supposed. Being the smallest and weakest in her litter is what lead to her abandonment. The kid couldn't be of much use as a thin, sickly creature. For all she knew, her siblings could be dead. Regardless, the cub did not particularly want to be alone forever, and there wasn't much unclaimed land around the island. So she meandered around for a few days, checking out the various groups from a distance. The child was watchful of their comings and goings, generally from outside their territory. Tanglewood was the one she had eventually decided upon, thinking that the people and territory seemed most intriguing. The child knew from her observations that crossing over the scent line was generally seen as a threat, so she was careful to stay a few steps back from the invisible marker. Her slate grey eyes traveled about, her puny, useless wings pressed firmly to her side. Sitting tall, proud, her tail was wrapped around her paws. She looked, outwardly, as if she was well versed in the language and customs of the island, when in truth she was simply mimicking the demeanor of those she had observed over the past week. This was how she knew to simply wait, to not speak quite yet, for questions would be asked of her. Re: don't push me ☆ joiner - rhosmari - 01-14-2021
The woman had never seen an child alone and just sitting on the border waiting patiently. Ares had been abandoned here and left in the territory by her parents and most kids that had been taken in by her tribe were often wandering around and wailing. Crying their eyes out and having something that had happened to them. Mainly separation or death. Flicking her tail that brushed against the ground the marked lioness would watch for a little bit longer before she finally decided that she might as well figure this out. Watching the kid was likely to be more dangerous then actually helping her and so she left the thick foliage of swamp ferns and thick vines. Coming closer to the border the lioness tilted her head a bit and she allowed a more easy smile to pull at the pale colored peach toned muzzle. Her head dipped kindly as she sat down before the snow leopard. ''What brings her to Tanglewood and why is she all alone?'' She made sure to check the area around them, trying to make sure this was not some kind of trap. She couldn't be too careful considering that they had just gotten over the worse of what had happened to them recently. They were still recovering as it were and she allowed herself to relax a bit more, figuring that she should introduce herself to the kid. ''This one is called Elsweyr. She lives here and if little cub needs a home she is more than welcomed to live here with Tanglewood.'' That much was certain as they would never abandon a child and she was sure that there was more than enough room. Even if they had to feed an extra mouth they would have plenty to spare. Her tail waved gently in the air and she beckoned her to cross over the border. Re: don't push me ☆ joiner - trojan g. - 01-14-2021 [align=left]there's a chip on my shoulder *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
It wasn't fully abnormal for a child to be at the border by themself, but Moth didn't like the look of it any more now than she had the first time she had seen it. She didn't care for the reason of being alone, but she knew as much as anyone that being alone was not the first priority of most. Unlike Glasskit though, Moth's own abandonment had been when she was more than a child, and that had been when she had sought out Tanglewood for a place to stay. Having seen the child from afar - a surprise really, considering how small the other was both in size and seemingly weight - Moth came forward, curiosity piqued, quickly looking around for a moment as she grew closer, just in case there was someone else coming near for them. When she finally confirmed the other was alone, a small frown would cross the jaguar's face and she would look down upon the cub. "Hello," She would offer, voice motherly as she spoke to the younger animal, "My name's Moth, what's your name? Are you waiting for someone?" She wanted - no, needed - to make sure the other wasn't just simply waiting for a parent that was far behind them for whatever reason, an older sibling even. Hopefully some of the questions that she and Elsweyr were asking made sense to the young child. //ninja'd so might seem strange wording asfklashf ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* and it's big as a boulder Re: don't push me ☆ joiner - GLASSPALACE - 01-14-2021 GLASSKIT - female - snow leopard - tags - played by athenii
"speech" Since Glass had nothing to compare her behavior to, she didn't quite catch on to how disconcerting it could be. She'd spent most of her short life in a cage. Having no chance to play or interact with her siblings, let alone time with her mother to learn how to behave, had left the sickly cub with a very closed off demeanor. She demanded attentions be paid, but she was not going at it with the intent of cuteness. She simply did not want to be alone; though this most certainly did not mean that she was going to be all soft and cuddly. Whatever trauma had caused her closed off demeanor went further than just first impressions. Glass didn't just act disconnected, she was disconnected. This was a fact that could be heard plainly within her voice as she went to respond first to Medusa. "I do not wish to speak as to why I am alone. I will, however, disclose my requirement of a place of residence." Her tone was clipped, matter-of-fact. She had little understanding of the use of emotions, perhaps another side effect of being alone, and thus saw no logical reason to inject them into her speech. She did note the female's name, as well as her odd form of speech. Prior to being able to actually state her interest in Elsweyr's speech patterns, another approached. This female spoke more plainly - softer, gentler, and not nearly as interesting as the previous stranger's. "My name is Glass. Although, based on my observations of your customs, Glasskit may be more suitable." The cub spoke smoothly, barely twitching her ear as she revealed her name. "Technically, I was waiting for you. Not you specifically, of course. I was waiting to be invited across your, uh, invisible line. I understand it is customary." Re: don't push me ☆ joiner - S. PENDRAGON - 01-15-2021 Sophiea had been organizing her home but the sound of voices speaking was enough to coax her over, she decided to drop the feather duster that was held between her jaws and would head outside with both of her tufted ears perked forward. A small etched onto her maw as she kept her steps careful and elegant until she arrived next to Moth only to then take note of the cub that was right there who seemed to be waiting for the residents of Tanglewood to approach her. It seemed that the little one had a similar way of speaking or whatnot, the winged feline raising a nonexistent eyebrow at this Glasskit. Something about the kit part of the name being custom and that's when Sophiea would scoff lightly in brief amusement "It actually isn't custom." Began the British woman as she took a step forward to make herself loud and known, she would continue with a curt nod of her cranium "It is optional but not at all custom, a funny thing you should say that. My name is Sophiea and I had no means of changing it when I joined this swamp. And if you truly were observant, you'd notice that Elsweyr and Moth have regular names as well." Her whiskers would twitch lightly and her pupils narrowed into small slits, she would take a seat deciding that she had said enough. "And as for the invisible line, that's a scent marker. I'd recommend not stepping on it directly," She would say with her short tail wiggling behind her, the bandaged up femme would let out a soft breath "But you're welcome to stay and find a home of your own within the town." Another bugger to add to the children that were currently roaming around Tanglewood at the given moment. Cause may be their creed, that which bid those estranged from the rest of the population, a haven for the odd ones out. Or another factor may contest, too numerous those to sift through, little the use behind. A sullen shadow the youth that conducted his own approach, behind father trailing, confusion light as it settled across his countenance. Strange the manner the other child conducted herself, of most note her chosen vernacular. He had his moments of interjecting words he deemed may elevate his image in the eyes of others, often with poor results, this different. Each seemed spoken with a confidence that went against his own experience, more akin to the elder among their population, gentle the frown he wore. "Why do you talk like that." The query was spoken without regard for how it may be taken, the want to understand enough to outweigh his own convictions. Upwards vision turned, briefly regarded Aurum as conducted his own introduction before invitation was extended, sheepish now grown his voice as added his own to the rest. "Oh, uh, I'm Salvia." It was odd, having a child speak like this. Of course, Moth didn't know the circumstances that would have led Glass to speak like she did, and Moth didn't want to think about it if she was being honest. Although she was sure there was a simple explanation for Glass to speak this way, her mind could only think of different horrible ones that explained both the speaking and the missing parents - or family of any kind it seemed - at the border. Nodding her head in time with the answers of those around her, she would leave the mention of the "invisible line" behind her, out of mind. Soph had already told Glass what that was, even if it wasn't in the nicest of ways. The name thing was a little concerning due to the members of the group that had the two part names, as Moth wasn't too fond of her family being watched in that manner, but that had been addressed too for the most part. "If you'd like to keep the two part name you're more than free to do so, but if you're not comfortable with it you can just stay as Glass." She would offer, offering a small smile to the child. ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* and it's big as a boulder |
