Children in general were nosy, little explorers. It was both a blessing and a curse in Aphra's mind; on one hand, it meant her kids were entertained by looking for things and as such, they left her alone and didn't bother her much. On the other hand, it meant they were out by themselves, where they could be influenced by their crewmates. As selfish as it was, these children were hers and the way she raised them was no one else's business.

Even if it wasn't a good way of raising them.

As much as she despised the noise that kids made, hearing one crying caught Aphra's attention. At first, the she-cat was hesitant in approaching Torsten but eventually she swallowed her uneasiness down, a snort escaping her as she came to invesitgate what was causing the kid to cry. Pointedly ignoring Michael and Roxanne (for now at least), Aphra huffed, "Things die, kid." She told him flatly, knowing for a fact that Roxie and Michael would hate her for it. Sure, she admitted that she liked quietness and that causing drama was stressful to Michael - and her words still rang true - but it made life boring without it.
