As it turned out, leaving a place that you had come to make many connections in was harder than Michael had initially thought. He had figured that, if he tried to leave as quickly as possible and not tell anyone outside of writing where he was going, he'd be able to leave cleanly. What he hadn't expected was for both Seapaw and Roxanne to pursue him, both quite ready to chew his ears off for even attempting to leave them. At first, the pregnant coyote had recoiled, desperately trying to explain what his motivations were, but everything seemed to fall flat at the feet of his sister and nephew, their gazes furious. He couldn't help but feel like a naughty child, despite the fact that he was getting scolded by two people who were younger than him. It had hardly taken much convincing for him to turn tail and head back home, especially when both Seapaw and Roxie expressed the sadness that would ripple through everyone at his departure. He really wouldn't have thought he'd have that much of an impact, but it had only taken one stern glare from Roxie for him to know that he did. At the very least, he hadn't been gone long, so not that much should've changed, right? He could apologize profusely, and probably do a lot of extra chores and maybe deal with a bit more cuffs over the ear, and everything would be fine.

The walk back to the Typhoon hadn't exactly been fun, especially since he still had to deal with lecturing and the extra weight and pain that came from the puppies. Still, all things considered, they made pretty good time, and it wasn't too long before the coyote was padding back over the border, his bag full of belongings still clutched in his toothy jaws. He was flanked by Seapaw and Roxie, who had thankfully fallen silent by the time that they finally got home. He knew it would be far from the last that he would hear about this particular event, but at least he could savor the silence for a little while – or at least, long enough to deposit his belongings back at his home. It had taken a bit of extra time as well, considering he had to put his rats back in their little homes, and let Trevor's moths back out into their own little room. Immediately the place felt like home again, and Michael felt something click painfully into place within his chest. Man, he really had been an idiot, thinking that anywhere but The Typhoon could ever be his home.

Eventually, Michael found himself back near the tavern, Roxie and Seapaw still keeping a careful eye on him. Sighing at the both of them, the canine pressed his side into Roxie's, saying softly, "Alright, alright, I get it, okay? I'm not going anywhere now, and it was a stupid idea to begin with. Can the two of you please stop acting like you're my handlers?" He was fairly sure the answer would be a resounding no, but he could at least make an attempt. Looking around, the pregnant reaver hesitated for a moment before he spoke to the broader crowd around him, a sheepish chuckle leaving him, "I hope I didn't miss too much? I guess that all of you are stuck with me." He was trying to deflect with humor, not only because he felt bad, but also because he felt sort of woozy. Walking back and forth in his new pregnant body had taken a toll, and he prayed very softly to whatever gods were out there that he hadn't hurt any of the puppies.
