their son's loud cry brought the mighty dragon's attention to leoku, their blind gaze sweeping over him and fixing just behind him, unable to track his movements without their sight, relying on their ears and nose. a deep rumble left them, relief filling their heart. his was not a body that they would be forced to bury. "come my son. come.", they beckoned, shifting their body's position to let him in close, lowering their head to sniff the small fox, the child that had inherited their fox body. rumbling deeply, they nuzzled him once he was close, drawing their tongue over his face, tasting blood and death on his pelt.
"where were you, my dear boy?", they rumbled, praying that the bandits had not taken him into their custody. had they done so ... there would be more than enough hell to pay, and not enough fury to vent. two of their children had returned to them, and they were still in search of those who could aid them. they dare not make their children fight a war while so young that their teeth and claws were meant to take down prey, not fully grown opponents.
