Rhinestone had been living within Palmclan for the entirety of his life, from the moment that his mother had gently licked his fur and named him, to now, fumbling his way through sudden leadership. As such, he had become used to the various hazards that plagued the group and its members, such as the constant sand that stuck to their fur, and the usual dangers that were presented with a wide, open beach. Anything could wash up from the sea, including sharp objects that could cut open the paws of unsuspecting apprentices. Just the thought of it was enough to make the red flecked male wince, wishing he could somehow keep an eye on the entirety of the group 24/7. It seemed as though only Starclan had the pleasure of doing such a thing, however. Even in all of his moons as a member of Palmclan, the male had never actually had an encounter with a crab before. He had occasionally noticed them in the freshkill pile, caught by rather proud hunters that boasted about how they hadn't been caught by searching claws, but as for himself? He preferred to give them a pretty wide berth.Unfortunately, he was fairly sure he wouldn't come off as a very good leader if he just ignored an obvious apprentice in pain, even if Coconutpaw was making a valiant effort to hide it as he shook the unwelcome passenger. Quickly jogging his way over to beside Sanguinepaw, Rhine let himself hesitate for a moment before he spoke, claws curling anxiously against the sand beneath him, "Y... Yeah, do what Sanguinepaw said. It should just fall... I think. If not, I mean... I guess maybe we could pull it off? I think that might be pretty painful, though." He found himself coming up blank as he tried to remember what his mentor had taught him about dealing with crabs. He was sure that it was part of his training when dealing with aquatic prey, but he just couldn't seem to think of what someone was supposed to do in this situation. Had his mentor avoided crabs as well, and he had just never noticed? That would certainly explain a few things about the amount of crustacean in his diet.
