☆ HUNG PICTURES OF PATRON SAINTS UP ON MY WALL TO REMIND ME THAT I AM A FOOL. TELL ME WHERE I CAME FROM, WHAT I WILL ALWAYS BE: JUST A SPOILED LITTLE KID WHO WENT TO CATHOLIC SCHOOL —
Unfortunately for Icarus, the first to approach he and his steed was someone who couldn't participate in a horseback patrol. At least, not on horseback, that is. As Aurum had come to learn slowly about the traditions of the knights, he had been fascinated to learn that they kept horses as companions, as well as rode them around. He could definitely see the thought behind the tradition, and as he watched some of his new groupmates bond with and ride their steeds, he could also see how it worked quite well. However, there were some issues that were very clear when it came to Aurum ever considering getting his own steed. For one thing, he was only around the Knights of Concord half the time. His dual alliance made it so that he was commonly flying back and forth, coming and going as necessary, which wasn't exactly ideal for taking care of and training another creature. For another – much more obvious – thing, the angel was simply too big to ride around on the back of the horse. Even the most massive of steeds would struggle with the weight of a full grown lion on their back, and while Aurum did have his mutated canine form he could turn to, that was very small, and more than a bit clumsy.
Despite his own issues with the idea of having a horse of his own, Aurum still enjoyed watching others interacting with their steeds and training them. So, when the winged lion spotted Icarus and his horse down below while he was going for a flight over the territory, he decided to drop in. Wings spread out, the angel landed a few feet away, making his way over with a smile. He flicked a paw upward in a wave not only to Icarus, but to the noble equine beside him as well. Watching as Icarus handed over a sugar cube to the rather majestic – and large – beast, Aurum rumbled in greeting, "Hey there, Icarus. I spotted you from up there and thought I'd come say hi." He pointed up at the sky with a paw before continuing, head tilted in curious thought, "This must be your horse, right? I've heard a bit about this tradition... what's his name?" Perhaps it would've been a little odd to some, the thought of animals keeping other animals as steeds and caring for them, but Aurum didn't really see a problem with it. After all, it wasn't as if the knights were abusing the horses to get them to stay.
