[font=trebuchet ms]Cooper seemed... unwell, as of late.
Rin hadn't seen him since the day before, but she couldn't miss how he was thinning, showing his age in his eyes and in his posture. He had always been the type to work himself to sickness- she distinctly remembered the time he had become delirious enough to mistake Play for Suite, when aside from their white fur they looked little alike- but he had been younger then, more resilient. A fever was one thing for a creature in their prime, but Coop was long past his prime.
Truthfully, Rin was a ways past her prime too, but she still had to be at least four years younger than Coop- possibly more.
Approaching Coop's room, she found herself standing beside the entrance, silently listening to the strains of his voice. The names, she could pick out- Diane, Harry. Creatures she did not know, but important to Coop all the same. Probably dead or otherwise gone, if Rin had to guess. The exhaustion in Coop's voice was more important to her than the identities or fates of the ones he spoke about, but then... it wasn't about her.
Her ears swiveling back, she stared down at the ground. "...Coop? May I come in?" she asked lowly, tugging at her scarf. She was just there to check on him, she told herself. If she kept an eye on him, he'd live a while yet.
