The shakiness is what worried her the most. Nervous glances, pulling her closer. Sam knew this wasn't good. She felt just as sick as when Leroy invited the Pittians into their home, the only place that she was safe- besides next to Goldie, here- from them. But even now, she didn't feel very safe. No, she felt very scared. Goldie hardly acted like this when they weren't behind closed doors. But what scared her the most, Sam decided, was the fact that she didn't know. The fear of the unknown, to be or not to be. To sleep, perchance to dream.
She cleared her throat.
Sam's mismatched eyes raised up towards Goldie spoke, directly into her ear, and some kind of shock fell away. Two months. Pregnant. That word echoed in her mind, then echoed back with the phrases 'gregnant' and 'pregante'. No, focus, no time for joking. She finally blinked after a long, long minute, and Goldie's eyes were already welling with tears, bitter and preparing for Sam to refuse her. Sam's ears might have been flattened to her head, but she knew that Goldie felt so much worse then she did.
Especially when she pulled away. Sam inhaled sharply, lurching back forward and pulling Goldie in against herself, one paw reaching up to bring her head down to her neck and tucking her head over Goldie's. "Dummy. If I'm not around, how m' I supposed t' raise the kids?" The decision was sudden, instant. Fast, maybe too fast for Sam. But she wasn't going to live forever. No one had liked her, no loved her before. No one had trusted her as much as this before. And she wasn't going to let go.
And then she softened, the jokes slipping away for a moment, her voice lowering just for the tiger betwixt her arms, despite the pain it brought to sit back. "Of course I'm going to stay. But I'm definitely going to have qualms with the.. ehem. Father." She drew back a little bit. Her eyes scanned Goldie's own. "Yeah? Nothin' but me. Promise me tha'."
