Sam, the last time she had felt a crush, it grew on her unwittingly. Unknowingly. She couldn't figure it out until it was time to say goodbye. There was too much on their minds, all of them- the journey to Georgia, the multiple different problems on their tail- Grey Men, Wildmen.. no, it had happened too fast and too sweetly for her to be able to go back against it. She didn't like how it happened. But it had happened. But this, her and Goldie? It was different. This trust had slowly been built, from night one on the beach, to now, hugging her back in fear of flying.
Speaking of flying, Sam had never flown before. This was causing her to seize up a little bit. What if she fell? What if she landed on a rock? Oh, fuck her, rocks sounded hard to land on. "Boat sounds better. I would appreciate it." Sam managed to mumble out, lifting her head a bit. Her ears twitched, swiveling swiftly and quickly around only to realize Goldie had just been.. walking. Wow. She cleared her throat, shifting herself a bit to get more comfortable. Besides, Goldie's back was nice and wide. Maybe it'd be like sitting in the back of the Pontiac for a while, wouldn't it? Much more comfortable then the bike.
Sam reached up and smacked herself with a paw, but not audibly. She hoped that Goldie didn't see her do that, she thought to herself, only to blink as Goldie started to move a bit faster. She held her breath, those large ears of hers pressing flat against her head as they started off. Sam suddenly worried she was too heavy, that Goldie wouldn't be able to make it too high without faltering. Slowly, the fears, the worries, sloughed away. Her gaze shifted about the ocean for a moment, leaning her muzzle over to watch the waves just beyond the soft feathers lining Goldie's extra limbs. She gave a sigh of content, without even realizing it.
Maybe Sam wanted to be the person that kept Goldie distracted. Maybe she'd be the person to relieve her fears, but maybe Sam wasn't completely ready for it. She wasn't ready to let go of the Grey, the greaser in black, her brother in his puffy jacket.
But maybe it was time for change.
