When cousin Goldie turned to him and smiled before ordering him a drink of apple juice, he felt an identical grin spreading over his muzzle, glad that he wasn't immediately being tossed out of the tavern. He hadn't thought either Roxanne or Goldie would be as cruel as to just brush him off without anything, but it seemed as though he would be allowed, at least for now. When a cup of apple juice was placed in front of him, the boy made a soft and happy sound from the back of his throat, standing up on his back paws to pull the cup close and take a drink. It was very sweet and a tangy flavor he hadn't yet experienced, but he liked it. He said cheerfully to Goldie once he was done, some apple juice dribbling down his chin, "S'good, Goldie! This apple juice is super yummy, and plus, I saw a jellyfish today! It looked real squishy." The experience would more than likely be mundane to Goldie, who had lived near the ocean all her life and had already experienced all of the excitement of it, but Roan's eyes had nearly bulged from his skull when he saw the little floating purple pink creature in the water.
After he had rambled a little to his cousin, his mother finally seemed to realize what was going on, if her choking upon her drink was anything to go by. She gently scolded him in Spanish, and his ears briefly flicked back apologetically, but his mother rarely stayed mad at him for long, and he was purring once one of her wings was around him. He squished in close to Roxie's side, keeping his paws on both sides of his glass as he piped up, "Yay! Thank you mama." His tail did tend to droop the smallest bit at the mention of his bedtime, but he didn't protest it, knowing that would be of little use. After all, his mother just wanted to make sure he was getting enough sleep. He had heard her tutting enough times over Goldie working herself too much without enough rest, and although he wasn't working, he doubted his mother wanted him to be all play and no rest either.
