▼ I'M NUCLEAR, I'M WILD ▼
As empty as he felt whenever she wasn't around,
a part of him was glad that she had reacted the way she did, a sadistic part of him rejoicing in the fact that maybe she had finally had enough of him. What had he done to deserve such a lovely girl like her, anyway? It was for the best. He hurt her multiple times in the past, and he wasn't ready to do so again, pain being the only thing he could see himself causing had she embraced him. He was a player, so to speak, someone who was good at keeping your bed warm at night but would be gone by the time you woke up. There's a bitter taste on his tongue when he remembers back to when he had done that to Roxie herself.
But oh how he longed for her still, despite it all. He wanted to hold her, to be there for her when she felt down, to dry her tears, and most of all, to show her just how much he cared for her. He wanted to be the object of her affection, just like she was his.
The jaguar sighs, dark pelt blending into the dark around him as he watches the tides, calm and seren under the night sky. It was a good night to make a wish, to dream of something he knew he shouldn't have.
Just before he could make a wish upon a star, the words just on the tip of his tongue, someone calls out his name. It startles him, head whipping around just in time to catch a glimpse of warm fur, a blur of color crashing into him. He lands hard and braces himself for claws and teeth, ready to feel the pain, to defend himself against whoever this may be, but no hits or bites ever come.
He recognizes her quickly, a face that he hadn't seen often but one that was still burned into his mind. He swallows hard.
He's somewhat surprised that she hadn't come to berate him, chastise him for being such an idiot. No, instead she was here with a smile and teary eyes. He wasn't sure which was worse.
"Roxie," he says, quietly, as if he was unsure. He tries to brush off the additional bit of surprise from her sudden shifting; he had seen weirder. "don't apologize. I deserved it, y'know, for being a dumbass." He curses the way his voice strains with emotions, and the way his face heats up when she nuzzles into him, holding him tightly. Stop it.
He hopes that this is just a dream, but at the same time, he would be so happy if it was real. "I'm-" he starts, then stops, scrambling to figure out what to say, or at least how to say what he wanted to without sounding like a big cliche. "I meant it, too. I, uh..Heh, I'm not used to saying out loud. Sorry."
Greed takes a deep breath, filling his lungs with air until they burned, then released it in a hard exhale. "I love ya, too, Rox."
Once it leaves his mouth, he knows there's no taking it back. But he doesn't want to. Wrapping a large paw around her, he holds her tight, his chin pressing into the back of her neck. His heart is beating so fast he fears that it would explode. Even if it did, he would die happy.
"Damn, what did I do to deserve a girl like you? I guess I'm just real lucky."
