There were quite a few perks about seeing auras, honestly. For one thing, it gave him an instant read on people; sure, one's aura couldn't tell you everything important, but Bastille was a good judge of character strictly because of those auras. They gave convenient general impressions, frequently offered vague indicators of moods, revealed certain information such as state of existence and whether or not someone hosted multiple souls... all of that, and he was rarely taken aback by shapeshifters. After all, he could literally see the true person behind the new body, which is why he didn't look particularly alarmed when he stumbled upon a foreign creature in their midst.
"New trick?" he drawled as he came to a stop, ignoring the headache that was plaguing him as he eyed Roy with disinterest. After a beat, he supplied in a vaguely bored tone, "Looks like you're discovering quite a few of those recently, Roy." Yes, that was a reference to his fight with Beck. Yes, he was subtly reminding him that he had failed to kill the leader. Again. Because he was an asshole, and also didn't like Roy.
