while august would have felt bad for underwhelming kydobi, they still stood with their opinion. he knew kydobi would understand it, even if it was hard to swallow. august had already known he didn't want to be one of them for a long, long while. and when he was at his lowest, knowing his freedom could be quenched but just possibly asking jervis, he still wouldn't. it would be wrong. to turn his back on those he had sworn to help. not only himself.

he couldn't help but chuckle at the others comment. "smart? i like to think so. who knows, maybe i act the way i do so they underestimate me." his voice held a mischievous glaze over his words, a smirk on his maw. at the promise of having pretty much... freedom, though, with just the title? maybe that felt a little more comforting. august was aware that some of the slavers were more gentle on their personals. giving them shelter and food. sometimes extending to protection. though kydobi offered more. something august only wished to have.

"friends? i consider you a friend. you and gael; he's rather nice to me. his little girl too." he hummed, feeling a fuzzy, elated buzz through his bones.

"oh! could you teach me some tricks? you said i need to defend myself. i might not be as big as jervis, especially not you, but maybe you could help me with defensive moves?"
