Even so, the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry. Dovedeparture was beginning to believe her plan - her plan that she had so meticulously worked out - was crumbling. It had been so simple in the beginning; she had found purpose after her fall, and her job as guardian was going swimmingly. But things were more... difficult here. She was becoming too attached to things, and it seemed her wings burned more with each day that passed. And what of her confession after her entrance ritual?
The lynx frowned, drawing her wings closer to her body as if to protect them. In her heart of hearts, she knew there was no protecting them with the path she was strolling down. She knew she had to make subtle adjustments to her scheme, and so she would.
The cogs in her mind turned and turned and turned. Oh, how she cursed this vessel's way of thinking. It was too slow. Perhaps she were too impatience. Frustration bubbled up inside of her. And that was another thing that was dismantling her plan - the emotions.
The crewmate hummed lightly to herself as she moved through the territory, trying to find somewhere to lose these overbearing thoughts so that she might focus on proving herself instead. For reasons unknown to her, she marched towards the tree houses. Her eyes trailed the foliage, and she admired how the flora was succeeding in reclaiming what once had been its own. There was beauty in it, of things being cut down and coming back stronger. Absentmindedly, the fae spread her clipped wings.
Would they return to their original state as well?
The sound of a troubled sigh reached her, and white ears perked. Dovedeparture moved toward the noise, strung along by curiosity and a desire to aid whomever seemed upset. "Hello there. What's got you down, sweet pea?" she inquired, craning her neck to get a good look at Idyllfields. She moved then, to join them in the tree house.
"Sorry if I'm interrupting your reading," she added, motioning to the contract with a paw. She made no move to try to read the thing, for prying into the business of others wasn't exactly her cup of tea.
