[font=trebuchet ms]She didn't want to go back, because of how far it was. Straw had expected this; she understood that feeling well. "Sunk cost fallacy," Ly had called it once, the feeling of having come too far to turn back, even though going further would cost more than going back. Still, the reptile probably couldn't make it up there today, especially not if she was thirsty. Now would be a good time to have water magic, but Straw still didn't have any such powers.
The reptile's tongue flickered almost like a lizard's, but Straw knew this wasn't a typical lizard. No lizard was this big, let alone winged. "The uppah?" Straw mouthed to herself, tilting her head in the other direction in confusion. Once realization hit, though, she tapped her mask with one paw and shook her head. "The mountain? No. I'm from the town." A land further off than that, if she wanted to be technical, but she doubted the reptile cared about where she was born.
With a nervous chuckle, she nodded. "Yeah. It's called a mountain." The continued flapping of the reptile's wings was hypnotic, almost, the way they beat the air around them. Blinking, Straw cleared her throat. "It's far. I know. But you should come drink."
