No one else had such an extensive garden. He knew that his father occasionally grew herbs or mushrooms, but it was nothing like this. The sawbone held the small leaf up to the sun, examining the veins. Raspberries, huh? He’d read about the berries before, but never had heard anything about the plant itself. It seemed amazing that the little leaves could do so much.
"Wow, Delilah," he said slowly, processing everything she’d said. Bleeding and pain, could be used during childbirth. "You know a lot about plants. You must care about them a lot." Selby thought about his position as sawbone, and though he knew lots about the plants in his own garden, he knew there were lots of things in medicine that he knew nothing about. Things that Delilah seemed to know a lot about. "Would you mind— I mean, if you’re not busy or anything— telling me about some of the other plants?" he asked carefully, not wishing to offend or displease.
