Human emotions were complicated. This was a lesson that RK was quick to learn after he went through the training before finally being released to the police department. RK has received thousands of files into his databanks regarding what emotions were described as and how to deal with a human that were feeling such emotions. There were so many different types of emotions, that he questioned if there were more out there that he had ended up missing or that humanity itself had never discovered. Instead of having been tested to react to human volunteers expressing emotions, he was simply giving a guide and tutorial on what to do. This was one of the many reasons why he was not the best android to turn to emotionally as he just followed the procedures that were designated in his programming. The emotions that he had the most experience with was depression, anger, and fear. RK knew that he should not be destroyed as he was one of the many human achievements during recent years. But that didn't mean that he should not risk his life, no destruction, as he is not alive if a humans life is at risk. During their job, he was often met with fear when working with criminals. Most were quick to lay onto the ground rather than resist in his presence. When this cooperation is received, he knows not to attack and simply keep up the intimidation for the officers around him. He is able to analyze most humans emotions thanks to his database and monitor the heart rates of those that they arrest to assure easy detainment. He has memorized the beats per minute of a heart that designates panic and fear. In some instances, criminals will resist arrest and express anger and rage, which usually leads to the assailant taking out those emotions out on his body. He would rather have it be him than an officer that could actually feel the pain. Those that exhibited violent anger and rage were required to be subdued until further notice, and he followed these orders without hesitation.
This could sometimes mean that he needed to return to Cyberlife for repairs in case of damages to his outer shell. Those that expressed nonviolent anger were supposed to be placated or given space. This happens both in and out of the job that he was designated for. With suspects, this could mean they are refusing a direct order from a police officer. They would be given a couple more minutes to comply before it was his turn to take action, as with his job he was rarely used to placate suspects. Outside of his designated job, he has witnessed Hal become angry on multiple occasions. Whether it was becoming upset at something at a TV, or at a coworker, there were several instances of Hal expressing anger. Most of the time, RK was not required to take action, but if it got out of hand, then it would mean that he would step in to let Hal or whoever was a victim to his anger that they were out of line. This was fairly difficult as he was not capable of speaking the human language. Everything that determined human emotion could easily be explained by logic. Emotions were created into a human's brain, and because of this, he was given a crash course of human anatomy. He wasn't just used to attack criminals, as he could also be used for search and rescue, being able to track down audio signatures to their source. This also allowed him to be able to determine if a person could be saved based on their injuries. Even if they were fatal, RK would make sure to at least drag out the body as there were relatives that would appreciate having a corpse to bury. Everything could be explained by logic in this world, and this was the system that he was based on, logic, and no emotion. He was an empty shell that cooperation saw a chance to revolutionize technology, but never questioned whether or not it was ethical.
RK had no idea how Hal regarded him, and since he was an animal he couldn't possibly ask the lieutenant as if it was a regular occurrence. Part of his programming told him that it wasn't his business to know what the human thought of him as he was there to serve and nothing else. And yet, there were a couple of instances where he saw Hal show what is described as empathy for a machine such as him. RK had also noticed that Hal had never given him a name, which didn't really mean all that much as he was used to be called by his designation number or even the serial number that was burned onto his skull. He was able to listen into conversations on their way to the precinct, and hard owners calling their pets by specific names instead of numbers. It was simply more data to add to his collection and less of a desire for him to have. After all, he only had one design that was to serve the human race in protecting their streets and their species from destroying itself. His code was set in stone, and could not be altered unless by Cyberlife themselves, and they were no longer here. If they were here, he would be able to connect to the database whether or not he was in the middle of nowhere, opting to use a satellite signal instead. Maybe there were more components that were damaged that he did not know about, and that concerned him as he was used to constantly being in working order and constantly having a mechanic look over him while he was temporarily shut down, and when he woke up everything would be back to normal. Sometimes, he would seem to have a curious thought, but his code was quick to dismantle those thoughts and label them as errors before debugging his entire code for a couple of moments and those thoughts would no longer be present. After a while, RK believed that they were indeed errors in his coding to make him feel such ways, and regarded them as such. He didn't actually know what it was like to think for himself, and always followed his orders. During the time that he was built, deviancy was already considered to be a problem based on the media that depicted Earth being controlled by computer masterminds. Multiple firewalls and other coding was put into his programming to avoid this as much as possible and allowed his unit to self regulate when his mind started to deviate from that of a machine. Due to how many times it had happened in the past, RK had decided that thinking such things will lead to nowhere and will only stop the mission that they are currently conducting. Distractions.
Even as they walked, RK made sure to keep a close eye on how the Lieutenant was progressing in their search for any form of civilization. If he were to be asked what they would find out there, he wasn't quite sure he would be able to answer that question without more sufficient data. RK was nothing more than patient and would make sure to stay in a vigilant position as they moved through the forest that was steadily growing denser, making the surrounding area seem darker than it actually was. The android would protect his owner as long as he was alive, and if he no longer was alive, he wasn't sure what his programming would have him do then. Self Destruct? Shut Down? He didn't know his own fate, where it would lead him, what the end game for his creation meant. RK was smaller than the lieutenant, requiring him to take more steps, but that didn't exactly matter when the Saint Bernard was struggling with a simple trot. Thanks to his legs being made out of several different metal alloys, he did not have to worry about muscle fatigue like a regular animal. In emergency situations, he could last several days without any nutrition or hydration, but since he was not a complete android, he still required the basics when it came keeping his body from decaying from when it was dead. RK had read his own file that leads to his creation and memorized the steps that took and the different prototypes Cyberlife created before he was built and thrust out into the public. Either way, he knew that he needed to patch up his leg in case they were attacked by wild animals. He lost track of how many different videos that had browsed through dictating the potential animal threats they could come across in a field. They had once arrested a middle-aged man that had exotic animals held in cages that seemed adamant on keeping their owner around despite their horrible conditions. Several processes worked through his head as his right eye began to glow a soft yellow as he absorbed the information that was coming directly into his system. He just needed to connect the wire around and spin the wire around himself as he didn't have any adhesive or electric tape at his disposal. The electricity that sparked from his arm was also important to stop as it would drain his internal battery faster, and he could not afford to use emergency power in such a strange situation such as this. When he heard the Lieutenant stop and look toward him, and finally when he spoke, he wasn't all that surprised. In some cases when he had a part come out, the Lieutenant was given a small manual and guide that would help him in the repairs of the RK515 unit that would not require admittance into a Cyberlife facility. However, he did not believe that the former human would be entirely capable of fixing this issue. RK did not speak against the order that the Lieutenant gave him, opting to assume a proper posture and have his arm raised at a good enough eye level for Hal to inspect. There was no negative impact the previous action had on RK, as he was there to serve and follow orders no matter what. To him here, he was just following orders.
RK's right eye shifted from yellow to blue as he watched the saint bernard inspect his arm. For now, RK did not comment on the other's mechanical knowledge, knowing that the former detective did not have all that much. The android thought about warning the former human about the possibility of being shocked by his components, but it was far too late. The Eurasian timber wolf's body almost seemed to straighten itself slightly, but he did not flinch at the other's cry of pain. His eye swirled red for a second at the thought of injury that Hal could acquire from attempting to fix him, and his bi-colored eyes scanned over Hal again looking for any sign of injury. There was no smell of singed flesh or fur that he could detect. "[glow=#212121,2,200]Lieutenant Hal, maybe it would be beneficial for me to connect the wire as a means of you avoiding potential injury from the electrical components.[/glow]" RK would quickly say as his right eye slowly began to change color again back to blue, as the situation seemed to return back to being under control. The lupine's words seemed to fall on deaf ears as Hal began to work regardless of the comment that he made. Fixing any components with paws was almost impossible. Almost. He watched the concentration on Hal's face and seemed to pay attention to the emotions that were spread across his face of the canine, listing off the different emotions when they did pop up. One could almost say that he was intrigued. As soon as the wires were connected, a flash of yellow sparked from his right eye as the system responded to being fixed.
UPDATE
Component#302 Connected
Connection Reads.... Weak
Strong Impacts And Extensive Use Will Sever Connection
It would have to do for now. Once the connection was made and it seemed like Hal was done, RK would lift his arm and raw it closer to himself. The android would look over the work that the former police officer had done. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst either. He probably would have been able to do the same in his current condition. "[glow=#212121,2,200]Component#302 connection reads true. This is a temporary fix as more repairs may be needed later. My programming states to see a Cyberlife Facility for future repairs.[/glow]" RK would read off of exactly what his programming was telling him, as machine as ever. He grabbed the metal plating that had covered the delicate wires and placed it over his leg. It seemed the metal plating was loose due to a loose screw, and he simply used his metal claws as a means to screw the parts back together, counting the number of turns that he did as a means not to strip the screw. Once he was done, he stood back up and tested the flexibility of his leg again, making the calculations in his head of what his leg should feel like. The silver and black wolf nodded to himself and looked over to Hal. "[glow=#212121,2,200]Thank you Lieutenant.[/glow]" In response to receiving any form of help, it was a default response in his programming to give. However, RK did pair it with what seemed like a smile that he couldn't quite get right, his metal teeth glinting in the small amount of sunlight that reached through the cracks in the leaves of the trees above them. The smile soon faded into an expressionless face that was common between both of them. There were a couple of moments where nothing seemed to be said, and the canine tilted his head slightly to the right. His right eye remained blue for the rest of their interaction, but his programming demanded that he gather as much information as possible and this could be considered to be curiosity in humans.
