Adaptive , malleable , rk was the perfect machine wasn't he? a gruff admittance , a subtle but substantial curve to the once hostile placement of hal's aggression - fright . He was human : no, something more than that now . Mind critical on the understanding - the same muscle memories translated clumsily in this new form of his , large and young in comparison to all the grey hairs and rough scruffy beard that he was quite fond of. he couldn't detect his age , but based on the simple flow of basic functions without the constant ache that he was used to before . maybe this transformation was like a cure to something unstoppable , unavoidable in his human life . He wasn't human anymore , but not necessarily dog either . He had memories , not all in order or exact ( in what happened to him ) . Something different - new in being , or maybe not - maybe this is what rk felt , a displacement in all worlds, born yet created . Artificial , a creature created without feeling , told to mimic or be terminated .
There was no pity there , it was hard to feel for something unfeeling . No , hal was complacent - if unsettled with his partner - his companion . A sheep in wolf's clothings - or to be more precise an android draped in the the fur of a wolf . If they wanted to make RK less imposing , less f a threat - than they would've made RK a dog. German shepherds were nice , already associated with the police for their many years serving to help . Rk was at least small for his size , not a large wolf - the size and the behavior that hal was used to - the fact that RK was still here - helping, in his oblivious sort of way - soothed him. Hal didn't usually ground himself in logic , but now he couldn't help it . thoughts drowned out that subtle thing that tugged at his nerves and ran his emotions raw.
Logic was a way to ease his way through the scope of this . This unexplainable thing . Logic what he can , and refuse to think about the things that he can't. He can panic when he's drowning his issues at home , for now he needed to find a way out of this . He had to find a way to be normal , ad to find a way home .
what was home to him ?
you have no home, not anymore .
RK turned north , a guess not based in knowledge , and the hsitance rk showed in waiting for him to lead showed that . Reminded him of home cooked meals - soft coal-like curls '[glow=#212121,2,300]would you like chocolate, or vanilla?' he had asked , bending down - small so small. [/glow]A child still learning to crawl, an android making decisions without fact - only the base feeling of wanting. Childish , a rush of feeling - heady , prideful , pack .
Hal indulged Rk, Hal's steps still slumsy, gait wide and slow , considering step after step - like a child . he was not ignorant to the fact that Rk expected him to lead, and he attempted to fill the role , silvery eyes softening more to the original steel-blue. The walk was at an even pace , RK taking up step beside him and only halting as hal attempted to regulate his steps. Walking was easy to master, but the gait - the weight of his steps was so very different than two legs-
bzzt - bzzzt
Hal followed along with RK and stopped as the wolf took notice of his leg . Hal only now noticing the damage down . it looked small - insignificant : his legs were reinforced with metal to better promote speed and durability . The obvious tells for his rather inorganic nature was a strength - not a weakness . Hal stopped and watched RK silently , not robotics expert but , damn it all - he grew with technology , he did pick up a few base things . "[glow=#212121,2,300]here, let me see rk?[/glow]" weary of his own previous action when approached to closely , he'd wait for some sort of response , negative or positive before-
( [glow=white,2,300]△[/glow] positive) walking closer , using one paw to lift the leg a little higher for him to see. A small nudge , he the Saint bernard let out a low hum - paw coming closer to aid his comanion in removing the outside anel before- [glow=white,2,300]zap![/glow] - " [glow=#212121,2,300]Shit ![/glow]" The yelp was reflexive, a small spark of the wire catching fur - but not burning . after a moment of realization - no pain at all . The reflex to pull back didn't come, but the soft utterance of cursing did , after a moment - with less hesitance - more confidence he attempted to see the issue : A severed wire . With no idea of what it even did to help RK, he was limited on how it helped his companion operate . Hal couldn't for the life of him guess - Rk was a work of a technological marvel - and he? He had only the basic ideas .
but he could fix a wire.
Since the electricity didn't seem to hurt ( he'll ignore that tidbit of information now to freak out about - later ) maybe he could bed the wires . Paws slightly more dexterous - ( he was used to more joints, but now he had claws - sharp points to contract ) he could bend the wires and reconnect them - though that did nothing for the outer coating of the wire . He sat down properly, lifting up a paw he attempted to pinch the wires of the broken component together - quickly and crudely . but hopefully - functional .
( [glow=white,2,300]X[/glow] negative) nodding . the error in RK was not something hal could solve , something that could be easily fixed , at least not by him . It was sort of cruel , that rk was without a proper mechanic out here , the sight of Rk damaged -hurt only made the Saint bernard more weary of this entire situation . Lost alone in the woods , with no luck of civilization or internet . Jesus , it would just be his luck - A helpless detective-ee and a wounded android .
concern for rk , wasn't surprising but the curiosity that underlined it was as well . "[glow=#212121,2,300] does it hurt ?[/glow] " the question this time - was not rhetorical , and spoken out of his heart , bubbled out of his throat as he sat down - letting Rk analize his own unjury - maybe something from the same thing that turned him into a dog ? Or maybe Rk just needed maintenance ? guilt
"[glow=#212121,2,300] Do you think you can continue ? [/glow]" a heartbeat after the net question - a flicker fire of emotion as Hal attempted to hide t under another question that rk could answer . he looked towards the direction they were heading - not with forlorn or any set of dread . Stoic - the mission at the moment , something him and Rk agreed on , wanting out - wanting to be normal. Hal would wait for RK: To repair himself , or admit needing help . Not that Hal was in any shape or form to even understand the issue , but maybe a second set of paws could help the situation . . .?
