In the heart of night, some quiet presented itself. Children had to sleep after all. When the black and red vulpine felt satisfied he would not have to worry about his little Aine, he trotted into the jungle trees. Hazel eyes turned upward absently towards the sky, glistening with stars.
His pelt flashed in and out of shadows, the myriad of colors half-camouflaging him, only to act like a beacon seconds later. He wasn't hiding; only trying not to bother anything. He settled when he found a comfortable place to sit, atop a tree stump. The faerie flicked his ear absently as he inhaled the humid air.
Through the branches, he traced constellations; an old pastime that he sometimes wondered if it wasn't influenced by his cousin's fondness of the sky. Doubtless, the studious Raziel could compete with his knowledge of the stars. At least I knew when to leave my books.
While he knew their stories, he found them invaluable for another reason; he always knew where he was. So long as they peeked through the trees or clouds. Gael smirked grimly, knowing just how far he had traveled from home and reminding himself he ought to teach Aine the way back too, one day.
For now, he knew, this was home. While not entirely accustomed to the wetter climate, Gael knew he could adapt. He would have to, for the sake of his plans.
