    Leaving was a mistake.

    He knew that.

So why did he leave his children behind when they were all he ever truly knew?

He couldn't answer that himself- It seemed far too painful to do so.

It seemed he had no choice, however, when he felt something heavy leap out onto his shoulder and tear into the skin and scales- something that only another dinosaur or more powerful and skilled being could do. Owen hissed in pain when he felt the pale skin underneath give way, the claws of the creature that got him slipping out just as he jerked his massive head over to see Masie, bigger than ever, nuzzling Goldie with the most vengeful look in her eyes.

Owen felt his heart break right then.

'Owen is sorry– I shouldn't have left you. The others.. I don't think they'll be coming back. I'm sorry I left you and your siblings behind.'

And as if a child being scolded by their parent, Owen turned to Goldie and literally /bowed/ his head to the felidae, his shoulder stinging from the fresh wound- but that was how things were ran in his family- if you were angry, you shouldn't have to hold it back if the person deserved it, and Owen surely deserved it for leaving his kids behind.

"Thank you for saving Masie and protecting everyone.. I'm sorry that I wasn't there- I should have helped you."

Did Owen actually seem.. Sincere about this? It felt odd, actually taking things seriously with how he always lived. He was just a big I-Rex wanting to return to the only home he knew. It was just harder than he thought.

"Seàmus, are the kids okay? Leo and Valentine?"

He seemed worried- maybe that was a sign of change- for someone like him? Probably, probably not. One may never know.
