Suiteheart could feel Margaery shift as she took in her words. A small part of her wanted to retract her statement, but the majority of herself knew she didn’t need to. It needed to be said. The words needed to hang in the air and then sink in. Each feline needed to hold onto the statement, to take it to heart.
Margaery couldn’t become that bloodthirsty creature. Suiteheart couldn’t become someone who knew not of her family and friends.
“I missed you too,” she breathed, speaking slowly. She didn’t want this moment to end. It felt normal again. ”I didn’t think I’d get to see you again.” The last of her words were shaky, emotional. Her words were true, and that was the saddest part. For a year, she had lived with this thought in her mind.
For one whole year, Suiteheart tried and tried to remember her last moments with Margaery. She picked through her brain every few moments in a desperate attempt to remember their last words. What had they done together the day everything fell apart? What had they said to one another? Had it been kind? Had they been fighting? She had prayed over and over that their last conversation had been good. But try as she might, she could not remember, and that was what scared her. She wanted to remember everything, but she simply could not.
“I just want you to be okay,” Suite told her, a gentle and sad smile on her lips. “And I know it may be a while until then, and that’s okay. But we’ll both get there soon.” The two of them had to be okay. They had always been, in the past. Granted, this wasn’t the past, but surely they would make it out just the same.
“And we’ll find them. We will, I -,” she cut herself short of saying she promised. She didn’t want to swear to something she could not deliver on. “I know we will.” That was the safer option. “We can start with the closest territories or allied territories. Wherever and whenever we can - without drawing too much attention. I don’t care about trespassing or anything else... I just want to fucking see our kids again, no matter what.”
She sighed and took a few breaths, letting everything sink in. Her mood felt somewhat lighter as a new resolve pulsed through her being. They would find their children, and in turn, they would be okay. With each other, they could figure it all out, couldn’t they?
“I love you.” Yes, she knew she had already spoken those words, but she needed Margaery to hear them again. She wanted to make up for months of being unable to say it. [color=#73B1B7][b]“And we’ll get through this.”
