It was Pip's dad — he didn't like him. Maybe it was just what he'd heard, or his own desperate desire to stay out of his way, but whenever the dog had seen him when he'd been in The Typhoon, his immediate instinct had been to go stand by Pip instead. It had been safer at the other's side, and even now he misses that familiarity. But slowly, ever so slowly, he's coming to appreciate this place as well. There's no longer an urge to hide himself away. So he joins the small group that snowballs together after Marina's admission. The boy's eyes are a little wide, but there's no obvious judgement in his expression. A little unease, maybe; that's starting to be just who he is as a person. He tentatively sits next to August — the other boy is younger and smaller but still the most familiar in shape — and cocks his head.
"So are you guys... together?" He didn't know what the word was for that — his parents had been a pair but they never really talked about terms like dating and marriage and... whatever other gross things adults did. "Do you know Pip?"
