Bodkin is unable to communicate verbally or telepathically with others and relies on body language and other cues in order to help him communicate. It's difficult, even more so because Kin is illiterate and outside of the wobbly symbols of their own name they simply don't know how to read or write. Although, he's made due with what he has and has a few tricks up his sleeve when worse comes to worst.
