Being a leader wasn't something that was extremely easy to do. Half the time one wasn't taught how to be a good leader and it was up to a new leader to try and figure out how to lead a group that they had hopefully known for a while. The over-sized cougar knew this from experience, as when he was just an assistant deputy to the group that he had come to love and care for. All of his friends had existed there, and the young male didn't really know what he was getting himself into. He was just doing his job as another animal and didn't expect any sort of praise from anyone. He didn't do it for glory or for power. Ichigo had plenty of power to protect himself and others that he cared for, it could almost be considered that being an assistant deputy was somewhat of a hobby as he didn't really do all that much. Having a new job didn't change what he did for the clan, as he just did the best he could. That was all that he could ask of himself and those around him. After the loss of his adopted sister, who had become leader at the time before disappearing, her partner decided that he was going to go and look for her and try to find her. At the time, his sister's partner had been the second in command of the group, meaning that he would be next in line for leader. But it was at that moment, that the cougar was promoted to the title of leader, skipping an entire rank as his brother in law went looking for his sister. Ichigo had no idea what that could mean for him, and part of him didn't even want to be a leader. He was young and inexperienced when it came to running a group. Hell, when he was the leader of an organization he believed to himself that he had done a terrible job and that he wasn't a fit leader.
His fellow Shinigami would probably agree with him in that instance that another leader should have been chosen instead. Ichigo didn't say no to the promotion, and instead, he ran the clan for several months before stepping down. Being a leader twice was certainly an experience for the Shinigami, and a couple days after he became a leader, he was killed in combat. He was lucky to be reincarnated. Although, he wasn't certain if lucky was the right word to use in this instance. Either way, he had to make tough decisions when he was a leader. Whether or not to drop or add allies, to go or not to go to war, to enact punishments, promote and demote members, it all was bunched together. Ichigo knew what it was like to be dragged into a war, or move territories. It was a stressful occurrence and one that shouldn't be taken lightly. An entire group could hate a leader for the decisions that they make, but they never need to make it alone. They could always ask their clanmates whether they agreed with the idea that they came up with. Ichigo was all about communication, as he never wanted to force someone to do something that they didn't want to. The former leader has been entirely about free will and everyone finding where they fit into the world as well. The Shinigami wasn't entirely sure what to the think about the Tanglewood members. They had certainly been an interesting group, and he was able to get a vibe from them that they weren't like the ones in the group that he had once been in charge with. The armored male felt some pity for them at the mention of their territory being overrun with ghosts and spirits. He had tried to figure out where their territory was so that he could lend a hand and let the spirits pass peacefully. He never managed to figure out why there was an influx of ghosts in the area, and that concerned him greatly.
It was almost as if there was a calm before the storm that no one could predict. Ichigo had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach, but the past week had passed without much of a hitch in his mind. Sure, he was constantly working back and forth dealing with ghosts and other beings, but other than that the wildcat hadn't had to deal with any massive threats that he had come across. The swordsman had been in the area when he heard an unfamiliar voice. Ichigo had been patrolling using his enhanced hearing and decided to investigate. The scent that hit his nose told him that it was Tangelwood, at least he thought it was as he was terrible with memorizing scents sometimes. He came across the Samoyed, which reminded him of a certain leader where he was from that took the same form but without the mask. Ichigo was still off-put with the mask that the others wore, and Ichigo kept his distance so that the Tanglewood members could gather toward their leader. He was glad that Sunhaven offered them a place to stay. Ichigo would have done the same thing in the own clan that he had led. The tired male sat himself down and let his bi-colored eyes look at the canines as they began to walk away. "No one should be turned away if they're someone in need." Ichigo called after the group, happy that they at least enjoyed their stay for the short time that they were there. The Shinigami knew that there were exceptions to what he said, and he knew that if they had been an enemy against his own group and they asked for help, Ichigo probably would have refused and driven them off. Times change though, and this was a new group. He had much to learn.
