▹▹▹▹ In his days since joining the Ascendants, he had really put in an effort to try and be involved in what ways he could. After all, these people had been kindly enough to offer their home to him, and he found it somewhat easy to assimilate with them. For that, he was both grateful and lucky. These people ended up not being cannibalistic murderers and instead were some genuinely good people- aside from a few jokes that had already been thrown his way. It was cozy, though he would never bring himself to admit that he had used that word to describe them. But at the end of the day, it was true. They were good people, people that Atticus would, for now, be loyal to.
Quietly making his way through the territory, the large melanistic jaguar kept his gaze moving idly, a force of habit that kept him aware of his surroundings at all times, even if his steps were somewhat languid and long, with no real present purpose. He had half a mind to go hunting, to see what he could bring back to share; another part of him was curious to explore the further reaches of the territory that he had not quite been able to yet. And yet another part of him was quite seriously considering the prospect of an afternoon doze in the sunlight; but there was no reason to decide now, there wasn't even a rush at all. It was only when he stepped forward into the edges of a clearing of trees that he paused, his ears flickering at a nearby noise. A deep, shaky breath like someone had been holding the air back from entering their lungs, tense.
His gaze turned slowly, surveying through the underbrush of the trees and the area around him he slowly began to move forward, crouching himself lower to hide within the greenery in front of him in case this was more than he initially bargained for. Of course, he thought it highly unlikely, but he had learned quickly enough that dealing with frightened creatures could wind you up with some injuries; they were more inclined to lash out in fear rather than consider the situation logically. It didn't take him much longer to spot the form within the clearing, their head tilted high to see the height of the trees itself. They looked thin and shaky, and it frankly didn't take much more to realize this person had gone through more than her fair share of long nights. "Do you need help?" his deep voice rumbled lowly in his throat for a moment, letting her process that question for a few seconds before he stood and slowly stepped forward, his sharp gaze stuck on the girl. It was only the logical understanding of the possibility of his demeanor scaring her that he lowered himself again slightly and put a tiny smile on his maw, enough to soften the edges of his harsh golden eyes. "You're in the Ascendants. We have food and water, and a place to stay if you promise your pacifism."
