The only instances of ghosts she knew were ones from stories, scary ones that were told at night or on holidays such as the one right now. Her belief in them was questionable--though she tried to assure everyone she was brave and that she didn't believe in such things, she still got paranoid at night, having to check under her bed before turning off the lights. But that was more-so a general thing with monsters. If vampires like her and her family, what stopped other creatures from existing?
The first thing she heard was the voices, one of them being particularly loud and familiar. It sounded like he was angry, and yet, there was another emotion to it: sadness. Her heart wrenched at the thought, quickly following the sounds to find him and try to comfort him. The last thing she expected to see was the transparent spirit.
A spike of fear runs through her, the urge to run nearly overpowering. But the way her brother is speaking to it holds her there, her head tilting. Alex? So this was his boyfriend? She slowly connected the dots, and a frown developed on her face, sorrowful for her older sibling. His boyfriend had died. That was how ghosts worked, right?
"Oni.." she starts, then trails off, unable to find anything to say. She wasn't sure how she could try and comfort him in such a situation.
