Ghosts, apparently, were the reason for it, so he couldn't exactly blame them for losing their shit- Gabriel wasn't the most superstitious guy, but the spirits returning outside of the day reserved for it was...a little disturbing. There were a few things his mother had taught him, after all, and as a boy, he'd been terrified of malevolent spirits, until he grew a bit older and learned that the living were worse. So personally, if he were to see a ghost of one of the people he couldn't save, or one of the people he killed, or an old friend, he was more inclined to get the fuck out instead of interacting. Not that he could do much with his debilitating headache that nearly kept him in bed. If a ghost were to show up and threaten to kill him, Gabe honestly might even take them up on the offer just to escape the constant sharp, aching blare that wouldn't leave him be. It haunted him better than any phantom could, and he couldn't say why he continued to wander the territory when it did nothing for him, but it was better than confining himself to bed rest and shriveling away.

He also had some kids to wrangle, apparently. Somewhat. Onision's business was complicated, and Gabriel honestly had no idea what the hell was with him half the time. Margaery and Suiteheart's absences were keenly felt.

"You gonna take my head off, too? I might thank you for it," the hybrid said, the last part muttered.
