HAZEL ELISE CAELUM ★ THE ASCENDANTS ★ COCOA FELINE ★ GOLD EYES ★ IMMORTAL ★ 3 SOULS ★ 11 MONTHS ★ HAZILLE ★ COLT NAMED ARION

To Hazel, evening walks were bliss: the tale of the day simmered low over the grass, harmonious with crickets and cicadas and the gentle blink of fireflies. A purple haze filtered through the horizon line, settling over the landscape like a haze, calm and serene. She would always be a fan of sunrises and the refreshing concept of morning, but there was something so utterly satisfactory about the lilac fog of dusk that she couldn't quite lay a finger on.
It was on one of these walks that the cocoa feline stumbled upon the small group huddled around a young lion cub. Curious, Hazel made her way around her friends to reach the young boy, golden optics round as she noted his odd ebony pelt. He was a stark contrast to their other local lion: Moon. Fascinating, but not as much as Lachlan's lack of parental supervision.
"He's so little!" The feline purred, smile blooming against her lips. She wanted badly to reach forward and draw the cub against her side - he looked so lost and confused, so young and unsure. Hazel wondered if she could do it: if she could reach for him without spiraling down her haunted memory lane. If he would even let her. Maybe he was too frightened for that; maybe he'd run off into the forest, after his mother.
At the others' comments about his eating abilities, Hazel raised her head, frowning. "I don't think it matters right now if he can eat or not," She pursed her lips. "We need to get him somewhere more secure than the border right before nightfall." Golden optics flickered between the direction of the observatory and the cub, offering him a warm smile. Names and introductions could come later - right now, they just needed to get him to safety. "Ave, pusio." The Latin slipped off her tongue, softer than any English syllable she could ever manage. "Do you want to go inside?" Hazel had limited experience with children, despite the many that roamed the Ascendants; she tried to make the question as simple as possible, hoping he would understand the basic intonation rather than the English itself.
