Yet there was no stretch of time, a period to grow accustomed to the chill permeating the air, for the child had proven rather excited when new of the festival had spread, barely contained as he had ventured forth with the rest.
It had been a rather large shock of his system, one built for the heat of the deserve, adapting to it over generations until he came about at the end of it all, unease curling his stomach as he had gotten his first taste of snow. The chill of it had stopped him for only a short time and quickly he picked up on things, though he had yet to learn how to properly distribute his weight to allow easy movement. As such it was no real surprise his dark fur glittered with snow, accumulated over a few falls, some dislodged as he moved closer. With his inexperience with snow he lacked any knowledge of ice or its properties, thinking little to taking a tentative step out onto it though the other two present pulled on skates.
A sharp sound of surprise escaped Harland as he slipped, landing in the snow about the edge of the ice and thus doing no harm, but the surprise of it was enough.
